Im a little concerned about my kitties weight.  I started to look on the web to see what a normal weight of a 7mnth old kitten should weigh and it seems my Obie is BIG. My DLH 7mnth old kitty is about 9 1/2lbs.  Im thinking this is big, but not fat big. I like to call him fat cat because hes so fluffy but my boyfriend says i should stop or ill give him a complex. Hes very lean and active and only eats about 3/4 cup during the day and about 1/2 cup at night of kitten food.  I hardly give him any human food though he loves ham and yogurt.  Im not to sure what breed he is being i got him at 8wks from a friend of a friend.

Could he just be a large breed of cat and i should expect him to be huge or could his weight be an issue i should talk to the vet about?

Thanks :)

He is handsome! Don't worry about weight charts. Just make sure he's healthy and his body condition looks good. My kitten has been "overweight" his whole kittenhood. He just turned 6 months and he's over 8lbs. I call him fatty cause he eats so much but he's always been long and lean. So much so that I've been worried he looked too skinny at times, lol!

Here's my big baby with his big rabbit feet! He's 5 months, and more than 7lbs. here:

Both of those kitties are gorgeous!

I wouldn't worry about the charts. It's kinda a 'one size fits all' chart, except it doesn't!! He looks fit and healthy to me. My cat was recently at the vets, about 6-7 weeks ago and the vet said he weighed a lot but when he escaped her grasp she then said he was very strong and pure muscle!  He is a big boy, long and lean.
