Boo is climbing the chair and sitting in the window no problem. He goes up and down the stairs and has no indication of an uneven gate at all. He swishes his tail like a master. However, he's got a stubborn issue with constipation still.
I've been doing the miralax thing and then cut back to once a day last week since at week 6 he seemed pretty regular. Mistake! He's been getting Stella and Chewey's freeze dried raw and some canned food too. I think the combo of reducing the Miralax and introducing the Stella and Chewy's reintroduced the constipation issue. The food has 1/2 a cup of warm water that I use to hydrate it and there is significant broth to food ratio. He drinks all the broth and scarfs the food. He does not touch the plain dish of water at all---never has.
He was successful the day before yesterday but last night and today I've noticed that he's trying to go---I can see his muscles working but he gets tired of forcing it and gives up. I've upped the dosage to 1/4 a teaspoon twice a day and then massaged his sides and tummy hoping to move things along.
I hope that there isn't bone fragments from the Stella and Chewy's that blocked him up.
Initially with the pelvic fracture, the vet was worried he wouldn't be able to eliminate because he was so constipated. However, as the weeks progressed, he was doing really well. I doubt that at this late date that there is any issue with the fracture remaining, but it is a concern. He got neutered the week before last and that was an interruption in the elimination cycle.
I've tried pumpkin before and he hates it. Cat Lax was good before and not now. Same for coconut oil. (Boo observes cat law which doesn't allow him to enjoy the same thing twice).
Anyway, I sure hope he goes soon. He's not accepting much in the way of canned food and really only likes the Stella and Chewy's.
