I need help with testing subscriptions to our newsletter - Kitty Bytes.

What is Kitty Bytes?

It's a monthly newsletter showcasing all that's new and exciting on TheCatSite.com. Here are links to previous editions -

http://kittybytes.com/archives.html

There was a break between May and last month, while I was away traveling, but Kitty Bytes is back now!

Subscribing to Kitty Bytes

Subscribing is entirely separate from your membership here on TheCatSite.com. I know we do have a box in the membership profile here that indicates your agreement to receiving a newsletter, but it's not related to Kitty Bytes. I'm afraid the box in your profile is currently not linked to any active newsletter.

So how can you subscribe to Kitty Bytes?

Visit this page -

http://kittybytes.com/

Enter your email there and click "Submit".

It's what is known as a "double opt-in" list. In order to make sure those subscribe really are interested in the newsletter, and nobody gets signed up for unwanted mail (i.e. spam), the system sends you a confirmation email with a link. You have to click that link to finalize your subscription.

And here's where I need some help. Going on a hunch and a couple of reports, I suspect there may be a problem with people not able to subscribe.

Reporting Back

So, if anyone can help by subscribing an email address and posting back here with the following information -

1. Did you get the confirmation email?

2. Did you manage to click through and confirm your subscription?

3. Did you use an email address that's on Gmail?

If your subscription was successful, then I do hope you choose to stay subscribed and receive Kitty Bytes once a month, but of course, you can always unsubscribe at any point in time.

Thanks in advance!

I entered my email addy just now and am assuming it will take a bit of time to get the confirmation email. Will let you know when I get it. I didn't subscribe via gmail.

1. Did you get the confirmation email?   Yes but it went to my junk folder and I had to resurrect it.

2. Did you manage to click through and confirm your subscription?  Yes

3. Did you use an email address that's on Gmail?  No - Hotmail

Subscribed via Google Chrome and Google address and seemed to work fine other than going in to Spam, but then pretty much everything goes there unless I ask for it not to.

Excellent! Thank you so much for helping me test this! Looks things are working fine.

And yes, about the spam folder. With Gmail it's even worse now with the new tabs layout. People don't always realize that in addition to the "Promotional" tab there's still a separate spam folder! They assume these emails will go into their "Promotional" folder and don't even know there's a spam folder hidden in the left bar menu (you have to scroll down in order to find it).

The next Kitty Bytes should be out by Sunday or Monday, so hopefully those of you who subscribed will be getting it soon enough

I have a Comcast email address.  I didn't get the email confirmation.
Do you have a spam folder or something? If it's not there, it could be that comcast has a spam filter on their end, that's stopping mail from getting to your computer. I'd check that, even just to make sure you're not missing out on other emails as well. Personally, I prefer a spam folder on my end, then for my ISP filter stuff for me.

I didn't get the confirmation either with my primary email so I tried my secondary which is at Yahoo and it worked.  Do you have another email you can try??
That could help if you just want to get subscribed. I can also help you by overriding the confirmation phase. If you're interested, send me your email via PM and I'll take care of that.

I did not get a confirmation using my personal email address (through a regional ISP). No spam filter, not in junk.

Did get a confirmation using my business email address which is processed through Yahoo.
