I was looking at the Facebook site of a feline only vet clinic that I am thinking of taking Ritz to.
And prominently displayed is information about how to build a "Roughneck" shelter. Apparently, Rubbermaid through the efforts of a 12 year old boy, is selling Rubbermaid Roughneck containers for winter shelter purposes at the wholesale price of $6 for 18 gallon, shipping $9' or $11 for 36 gallon, shipping also $9.
http://mousebreath.com/2012/01/rubbermaid-subsidizes-diy-feral-cat-shelters/ List is the procedure for ordering and/or donating the Roughneck container to an organization.
The StyroFoam container is not included, but you can find them in thrift stores for a good price. Or walk around your neighborhood on garage day--StyroFoam is a common enough packaging material: that's how I found flat, long StyroFoam for the winter shelter I built.
PS: use straw, not hay: these are not interchangeable.
