Everything that is happening here is troubling
.  It just makes me want to cry, because apparently this little cat is being diagnosed strictly via phone, if I am reading correctly, and this is no reflection on the owner
.  I know this cat is truly loved and the owner is doing everything she can to save him.

As to not feeding him until he has diarrhea, this is not good advise, though, because if that were to take DAYS, then he could develop Hepatic Lipidosis on top of everything else
.  I would agree that food could be withheld for possibly 24 hours, but I wouldn't go longer than that.  He doesn't appear to be eating much, so hopefully not too much stool has formed, and she IS able to help him eliminate a little bit of it at a time, from what I understand, using her little finger and vasoline.  I think increasing the Miralax is certainly a fine idea, if the 1/8th teaspoon twice a day isn't working.  I think some people even give it up to 3 times a day too, in severe cases.

Winkie, has there been any vomiting?  I'm hoping if there is no vomiting that means there isn't a complete blockage anywhere down the line

Thanks everyone.

Thanks mrsgreenjeens: he has not vomited till now...I am feeding him little by lil daily. sometime chicken soup and egg yolk, sometimes chicken pieces, sometimes few kibbles mixed with chicken water, sometimes lil bit of fresh cream or butter. (so that it acts as laxative). He has trouble to pass his stool and I put my finger and bring some out.( stressful for him) and he knows this and wants me to do and when it comes out he smells my finger and purrs and licks me as to say thankyou. He also dribbles urine lil by lil. Vet has now advised calcium to him for bones and muscles and I am giving that too which he prescribed. Provical.pet. His other medicines nefrotec, neurobion, bidazen 10. Vet says to continue this for month. He walks but with a lil bending towards a side. His tail (from middle to lower part where it ends) is numb and is hanging down. The tail where it begins has life as when I try to touch that he hisses at me as not to touch. Vet told me to massage his lower back and tail with some olive oil and when he sits under the sun during day I sit beside him and he purrs and comes a bit closer. Then I start to cuddle him and hug him and when he puts his face between my legs and tries to sleep and then slowly I start massage. But he allows it only for 3-4 minutes. Vet says it will take time for his nerves to heal..

Is there any liquid diet (recipe) which is nutritious to him and also easy to pass the stool. It has been 16 days I am with him 24/7 . I have not gone to work or slept peacefully. I just think and understand what if my own child or someone close to me would have been that sick would I have been at ease....He is like my child and I know this is a testing period for my from God and I have to pass my exam.

Thanks once again.

You need to keep your cat indoors. If you want to let him outdoors, only let him in your backyard. Allowing cats to roam outside unsupervised is very dangerous. As you now know, there are many dangers outside.

Have you considered free feeding?

I think you need to call the police on your neighbor. What they did is illegal. It’s called animal abuse. Animal control needs to be involved. In fact, your neighbor could be fined $100 or more.

I sympathize with you. I’m glad you took him to the vet. He definitely needed those painkillers! I’m sure the pain is excruciating. Right now the best thing to do is to keep giving the meds and see if he heals. I wouldn’t touch him too much right now. Let him sleep. Don’t try to play with him or carry him around the house. Right now, I don’t know enough about your cat’s medical situation to tell you if he will be all right or not. Call the vet and ask if you can up his painkillers. They will help him sleep, too. I don’t think he is depressed, but just very sleepy from the painkillers.

Cats are susceptible to wounds a lot more than other animals.

It’s very serious if your cat won’t eat. Cats can’t go without eating for very long.

Your cat is suffering from FUS (Feline Urological Syndrome).

Please help!! Today my cat was sleeping and when after few hours I came to check him what I saw was that red small ants were all over his numb hanging tail and biting him. I just cried and at once I removed all the ants with a soft cloth. I do not know why these ants came to kill him...Will ask the vet too in the evening but please advise...what should I put on that tail, shall I cover with cloth all the time like bandage or should I put some powder...pls suggest thanks

Ants will attack dead tissue wherever they find it. Do not put ant powder on him - he will lick it off and it could kill him. Keep him away from the area where the ants are and just wash them off if they come back. Try and find where they are getting in and put an ant trap down. Your poor cat must be suffering so much, I hope he improves soon.

I think your cat has spinal trauma. It will affect the hind legs. I think your best bet is to euthanize your cat. Most likely, your cat will be permanently incontinent. In some causes, there are surgeries that can alleviate the incontinence, but it all depends on your cat's injuries.

Thanks jennyranson for your good advise. I also talked to vet and he told me to clean that part of tail also and to check on ants. He said that with time it will recover.

LillyDSH, thanks for your reply. But I will never euthanize him. Because my thought is if my own son would have been in such a state I would have not done that. If I have owned him I have my full responsibility and I will take care of him. I also do not lose hope easily. I know in many cases cats don't recover such injuries but here chances are good as he has started walking, climbing stairs (though slow and a lil limping) also now eats though less, plays (again only for few min) his stool condition improved only 10%. He pooped yesterday a lil bit but with his own pressure and strength and I did not helped him and he did took out a lil. Here no vet is experienced to do surgery to cat. I also believe we have to die one day and again it is in HIS hands the time we have to die the sufferings we have to suffer, same is with my cat.

Many times I have brought home orphaned, ill and very sick kittens, puppies, birds, squirrels at home and did my best to make them live. Many survived and few died too in my arms but they died with their own time happily against all their sufferings.

My only work as a responsible owner is to get him treated and to care for him and love him the most. Thanks once again.

Dear Winkie,

I'm glad to hear that Henry is slowly recovering. I've been following his story and it makes me happy to hear of his every little triumph. I think you're a great person for taking such good care of him and not giving up. I feel the same way you do. If I had a pet that had suffered an injury such as this I'd see it as my responsibility to do everything I could for him, even if he never made a full recovery.

Thank you for being so sweet and caring and for not taking the easy way out. I think you'll be rewarded for all your efforts by seeing a healthy Henry again one day.

Lots of love to you and Henry.

Wonderful sign Winkie that he went on his own!  Boo's tail was also broken and the vet at first suggested amputating it. The vet surgeon though tested to see if he had feeling in his tail by gently pinching it. He noticed! Anyway his tail has recovered. He swishes it around like nothing happened. So there is hope.  However do watch for infection. If the tail tissue becomes infected, of course hopefully the vet would know how to safely remove that portion.

I've also noticed mixing the vegetable oil with Boo's food is helping him with regularity too. It could be coincidental and that at 9 weeks of recovery he could just be more successful in his efforts. I've also read that vegetable oil just gets absorbed in their system and doesn't actually serve as a lubricant for their large intestine. But he isn't straining as much and seems to be more spry.  Kitties are surprisingly tough and amazing in their ability to self heal. I'm sure it helps that you love him.

Thanks Laura G, Norachan, cprcheetah. Laura G though his tail is hanging and he cannot pass his stool yet on his own and needs  a little help but he has become so naughty that yesterday he meowed whole night asking me to open the doors and the gates to go out again...he doesn't understand that he is still on road to full recovery second there are so many dogs right now in my street these days due to their breeding season and also my cruel neighbours. He kept on crying whole night to go out as he used to do earlier but I just ignored, sometime I did woke up at midnight and played with him but still he continued his crying. Anyway I am not letting him out. I will buy today more of his toys to keep him busy at night...

When you say throwing water from his mouth, do you mean he is throwing up a froth like substance?  Or he is drooling were saliva is  dripping out of his mouth, or what?

If he is throwing up a froth like substance, usually that means they have too much acid in their stomach (like people when they get acid indigestion)  This can usually be taken care of be feeding something in between meals, feeding more, or giving them 1/4 tablet of Pepcid A/C (don't know what it would be called in your country though).

If he is drooling, that could mean a lot of things, from stomach issues to mouth issues, to no issues.  My cats drool when they are happy and kneading on me

I'm glad to hear he seems to be recovering nicely, and hoping this new thing is just a happy drool

Thanks mrsgreenjeens. It is not froth it is just like you said saliva clear water..while he is sleeping it is coming out of mouth..also his lips seem to have outer line of brownish thing and water from eyes too...I checked his mouth only I found two gums having thin red lining..is it cold maybe or what...as here it is too harsh cold and he had escaped again from house three days before during night from terrace (as that day we forgot to shut the terrace door) and when I heard the noise of his jumping I too woke up around midnight and went after him and I was shocked to find him again playing in a farm nearby.that is a damp area with lots of weeds and plants, snakes and other rodents.....and he stayed there whole night in foggy winter day playing and jumping after the rodents (even I had to stand there whole night just to see he doesn't wander far away)..that day it was very cold night...and as I did not went inside the farm as it was night and dark and as he came outside to wander further I caught him and he didn't knew I was standing outside:-)

He is eating and drinking as usual on his own. I cleaned his outer area of the mouth with damp cloth. Yesterday was Christmas here so vet was on holiday will call him today. I just want to see my cat happy and healthy playing and enjoying life as we all do...

hopefully it's all good. He may have eaten some plant that irritated his mouth.

One of my cats had a bad cold about a month ago. His eyes were watering and he was drooling a clear liquid from his mouth. Maybe he caught a cold while he was out playing in the fields? Is he sneezing or is his nose running?
