Personally, the Weruva Cats in the Kitchen constipated my kitty because it has three different gums in the formula. That is not to say it will constipate every cat though.
Our cats do fine with the Cats it the Kitchen foods... but they only eat them a couple times a week because their rotation of brands and recipes is relatively big! I guess that's a benefit of them being picky!

Actually Weruva is very low in carbs as it's one of the best foods to feed a cat. It has high protein, high moisture & low carbs. It is easy on the digestive system. Try reading this website http://catinfo.org.

Cat food should have at least 45% protein, less than 10% carbs, 25-35% fat. The more moisture the better.

All anyone has to do is figure out the DM carb content, but since I already did the work, here is the info I found.

cats in the kitchen Chicken Frick 'A Zee 2.7

cats in the kitchen Fowl Ball 5.8

cats in the kitchen The Double Dip 9.7

Paw Lickin’ Chicken 3.9

truluxe On The Cat Wok 4.9

truluxe Quick 'N Quirky  1

truluxe Steak Frites  7.5
Weruva definitely has some very decent low-carb foods, though others--especially a few in the "original" line and pouches--are pretty high-carb. I'm glad they have detailed nutritional information on their Web site that's easy to check.

Actually the Soulistic has higher carbs, I stopped feeding my kitties this when they started getting fat, I switched to Weruva & they lost weight.

Soulistic Good Karma Chicken Dinner in Gravy  16% carbs dm

Soulistic Grain-Free Autumn Bounty Chicken Dinner in Pumpkin Soup Pouches  14% carbs dm

Soulistic Harvest Sunrise Chicken & Pumpkin Dinner in Gravy  27% carbs dm

Soulistic Grain-Free Good Karma Chicken Dinner in Gravy Pouches  11% carbs dm

It's certainly better than the majority of the crap that they sell at big retail chain stores.

When I was researching what food to feed my kitties or what brands, I created an Excel spreadsheet & looked up every item that Petco & Petsmart sold. Then I started on the "premium" brands at the pet stores. I even wrote Dr Pierson & sent her my findings & begged her to update her list. I'm glad to see it was just updated at the end of May. I'll have to go through my list to make sure it's close to hers.

any carbs over 10% can throw off a kitties natural balance. I'm not an expert on cat nutrition by any means, I just am sharing what I have learned by researching. Some people probably feed their kitties over 10% & they are super healthy. I don't like fat animals so I am watching my kitties carb intake. You can check these sites out.

There are some online calculators I found but don't have the time to test them to make sure they work. I perform all my own calculations.

If the foods are canned, bonepicker, you can find them on the Catinfo.org food chart. (It's a PDF.)

Yes, those are pretty high in carbs, too, msserena... one of our cats loves the Autumn Bounty so I give it to her every now and then as a treat but fork out the chicken so there's not much gravy. Our cats don't care about thick "gravy" -- they love Tiki Cat -- so it makes me crazy that so many foods have such carby sauce thickened by gunk cats don't need, like potato. Like you, I keep our cats under 10% dry matter in carbs, which eliminates a lot of foods, even grain-free ones! It's one of the reasons (along with carrageenan) I've been feeding them more commercial raw food.

The soulistic varieties in GELEE are low carb and my cats love them! The key is to shred them with a fork as you put in the dish. They have Aromatic Chicken, and one with chicken & tilapia (no mercury issues). The other 3 are tuna based. I feed all of them.

Same here, under 10% carbs, no grain, low veggies & fruits & NO carrageenan. I haven't made the jump to 100% raw. I bought some turkey & chicken course grind from Hare Today & the first time I fed my kitties they ate it up. I portioned it off & put the rest in the freezer. I have taken out 3 containers now & have fed it to my dog because no one eats it. I don't have the money to do this. They love the Rad Cat varieties but that is SO pricey. I don't know what to do. They like chunks of chicken but only 1 will eat it now. Cats are so darn picky! I wish I could afford Feline's Pride but there's no way I'm paying that exorbitant shipping charge.

I don't know much about this product because I don't feed carrageenan nor fish based meals. I calculated the info from the Petco website, I don't know which variety they are listing under the nutritional analysis, but the carb content was 13%.

Yes, those are the criteria I try for, too... though I do feed about one can a week with carrageenan, something from Wellness Core. I'm glad you mentioned Rad Cat because I forgot I'd taken some out of the freezer and need to portion it out! I feed the turkey as an occasional snack: both cats love it. I found that one store near me sells it for a lot less than the other so at least it's not straining the food budget as much as it used to!

Good luck with your picky cats... ours are pretty fickle, too! Getting back to the original topic of this thread: at least they are more or less consistent about liking the non-fish Cats in the Kitchen foods!

My idea of splurging is getting the Lamb Burgini or Funk in the Trunk. I will feed one small can maybe once a week to 3 cats, it's not much but at least they get to taste it. Kitties love their fish!

The nice thing about Weruva, is they post extensive nutritional info on their websites so you don't have to estimate or guess. Here is Soulistic. The gelee formulas are: Aromatic chicken, Polynesian Picnic, Shrimply Divine, Double Happiness and Upstream Dream.
