Hi everyone!

I haven't been here in a while, but I'm concerned about my black and white polydactyl female, Cleocatra.

I noticed about a week ago that she had a claw that had hooked into her pad. I cut it and was able to remove it because I'd caught it quickly (I check her paws often).

Anyway, I was playing with her tonight and noticed on her front pads she has what looks like a claw in the pad. The pad is black and so is the claw. It almost looks like it's growing into the pad, but it's not attached to anything else, if that makes sense. It's hard like a claw and I tugged at it a bit to see if it was a dead nail that had somehow wound up in her paw. She wasn't in love with the tugging but she didn't freak out too much, so I think it may be more uncomfortable than painful. Any ideas?? And yes she will go to the vet! Just wondering if anyone knows what it could be.

Sometimes, poly cats have difficulties with those nails on the extra toes.  Sometimes those nails need to be removed so that they don't become ingrown.  Getting her to the vet is the best thing.

Is it a claw or a horn? My polydactyl cats have horned paws.
