Hi, I have been feeding a feral cat for over 14 months. He is NOT a kitten. He has been very afraid of me. I really believe he has been abused. When I first saw him on my property he was sooooo thin. He was out back hunting. I saw him every day. At first I thought he belonged to someone because he would be at the back of my property. I live on farm land and the people around here do not take care of their cats. They don't feed them because they think they won' t mouse for them.
I got off track. I feed my feral cat who I call "Babee Cakes". He is male. He is HUGE!!!
He gets fed wet food twice a day and dry food whenever he wants it. I have a cat house that I have a front and back door in it.
It also has plastic see thru doors on the front. For about the first six months I could not get him to use it. He slept in a cat bed that I put on my porch with a heating pad in it. It was winter, snowing and icing. He would eat his food right in the rain and snow.
I would feel sooo bad for him. I couldn't get near him. I told him I wouldn't touch him until he said it was alright. It took me 14 months to gain a little trust. He now walks between my legs and lets me pet his head, bac, tail and belly as long as he doesn't see my hands. He rubs his head against my leg when he wants lovin's and keeps looking up at me. The only time I can pet him is when he is between my legs. He knows his name and comes when I call him. I go out with.him several times a day to walk with him. He sits and waits for me. I even got him to walk in my back door and up one step tothe kitchen and then went back out the door. He didthis twice so far. I tell him all the time how much mommy loves him and what a good boy he is and how handsome he is.
It took alot of time to get this far but I' m happy that I did as I have to move in four months and do not want to leave him here. I have five other kids. One was diagnosed with
