Why does he eat so much and why does the vet want him to keep gaining weight when he is only 8 months old and almost 10 pounds? He also has enormous feet, so he could grow to be a German Shepherd.

He is still adorable though.

Has he been dewormed? It could be a parasite. Or maybe he's destined to be a big cat. My cat is a Maine Coon mix and he's 18lbs. He's a little overweight, he should be at 15.

No, he definitely does not have worms. He had coccidiosis when I first got him at 3 months old, but it is long gone from his system. A stool sample sent away to a lab a a few months ago confirmed no parasites. He seems very healthy, just big. I'm not sure what kind of cat he is. The humane society that I adopted him from called him a Siamese mix, but he seems to have Ragdoll-like markings and slightly longer hair than a Siamese cat would have. He has a short stocky body also, not long and slender. He is probably just a big boned, cute domestic shorthair.

Lol, my kitten eats so much I was sure he had parasites but his sample came back clean. Ugh, he's eating me out of house and home. He eats about 4 of the big 5.5oz cans of food a day! He'll hit 8lbs this week if he keeps up his growth rate and he's only 5 months old. I call him piggy even though he's actually a slender kitty, lol.
