We're doing it....finally. On the way back from Philadelphia today, we stopped at an HH Gregg store in Harrisburg. They have the exact same Samsung fridge that Lowes is selling for $3500. Their price is $2429. It's like a pre-Black Friday thing. That's a great savings! I've read some good reviews about HH Gregg, plus both my niece and my nephew bought all of their kitchen appliances from them and they're very happy.

http://www.hhgregg.com/samsung-31-c...oor-french-door-refrigerator/item/RF31FMEDBSR  It's 31 cubic feet instead of the 32 cubic feet that I wanted. I'm not going to squabble over 1 cubic foot.

So Rick and I talked about it on the way home. The sale is good until Nov 30. We're driving down this coming Friday night after work to pay for it. Then that Sunday, Rick and my BIL are driving down to pick it up.  The store does not deliver to our area because we live too far away.

They also have 5% discount if you put it on an HH Gregg card account. We don't have one, but we are thinking about opening an account, putting the fridge on it, and then paying off the bill entirely when it comes. It would be the same as cash, so there would be no interest or anything like that. And we'd still get the discount. 5% of $2400 is $120....that's almost like having the sales tax already paid. PA has a 6% sales tax. Another way to look at it is that the discount would help pay for the gas to go down and bring it home.

We can move the old fridge out of its spot to over between the living room and kitchen and keep it plugged in there. Then once the new fridge is running and cooled down, we can transfer the stuff from the old to the new one. And then shut the old one down. I'll clean it up and we can call our electric company. They will come and take the old fridge.....and give us $25 for recycling the old fridge. I was thinking of putting the old fridge in the basement, but geez, we have two freezers down there now. I don't think a fridge is necessary.

Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Sounds great. We bought both of our Samsung TV's from HH Gregg and found their service and prices great.

That is a nice refrigerator.  I got my flat screen and sound bar from H.H. Gregg.  They do have really good prices.  The one I went to is right across the street from a Best Buy but I really don't like that particular Best Buy.  You can't get anyone to help you in that store but at least that particular H. H. Gregg isn't like that.

Now that is really a nice refrigerator. I can't imagine having one that size. I can't find anything in my 23 cu. ft. I know it would be lost if I had one like yours. But with the way you love to cook and can and all that stuff, I know you will enjoy it to the fullest. Congratulations.

Lowes matched HH Gregg's price. With the additional 5% off because we put it on the Lowes card. Went down tonight, just to talk to them and they agreed to match the price, so we just bought it there tonight.

Bad news is that it's a special order because of the size of the fridge. It won't be here until Dec 7. But they will deliver it, so if anything goes wrong, it's their dime, not ours. The guy said that even though it says Dec 7, it could conceivably come in earlier. If it does, they'll call us and bring it up. I doubt I'll have it by Thanksgiving, but that's OK. (Although the light in our current fridge just bit the dust and I can't see a thing in there.) It will definitely be here before Christmas.

So now we don't have to run to Harrisburg on Friday night and then turn around and go back down on Sunday.

That's great, even if you do have to wait a couple of weeks. That happened when we bought our washer. The salesman overheard me telling my husband that Amazon had it a lot cheaper, checked online and matched the price. We even got it the same day.

Thanks! Plumber is coming in on Tuesday morning to install the new water line. Rick is taking a vacation day as he has to take his parents to the eye doctor in the afternoon. When the plumber said he'd come in in the morning, he was happy since he was already off work.

We were in a bit of a quandary. My nephew-in-law is a plumber; he did our sink and he did a great job. He said that he'd do our fridge, too, but he's been swamped with work and hasn't been able to come home in several weeks.....they live in the Philadelphia area. I really hate to make him come home....and do more plumbing (like he's not doing enough), so we asked somebody else to come in. That way, when he does make it home over Thanksgiving, he won't have to spend his holiday working.

And the fridge saga continues.....honestly, I never thought this would be quite the issue that it has become.

We have a lip on our pantry cabinet. It's about 1/4-inch wide, extending out over the edge of the cabinet. About an inch in depth and it extends from the top of the cabinet to the floor. Well, that lip is going to cause a problem with the fridge because the fridge "hole" is exactly 36 inches wide with that lip. The fridge is 35-3/4 inches wide. Which means it's going to be an extremely tight fit. And Rick is worried that it may not fit into the opening properly. Once we get beyond that little lip, we're fine....we'd have the space. "They" (people at Lowes) say that the new fridges do fit tightly, but that it's no big deal because the air comes out the bottom, so there's still plenty of room for circulation. Plus the height is not a problem at all; it's just the sides.

So, he called our contractor last night....the guy is a sweetheart and he's done so much for us, from installing new windows to putting in the sun tunnels, to helping us with stuff in the basement. He told Rick that it wouldn't take much to shave that lip off the pantry cabinet. We're a little leery about doing it; the cabinet is only a year old and I don't want to mess it up. Contractor said, no worries....he's coming in on Saturday morning and he'll take care of it. Then all Rick has to do is stain the area and finish it off.

So the plumbing is done for the new water line. Contractor is coming in early Saturday morning to remove that edge from the cabinet. Fridge should be here sometime around December 7th or so.

Stay tuned....hopefully that will be the end of the it, but you never know around here.

I know fridges are never easy. Especially the newer large ones. Ours barely fit by a quarter of an inch to spare! Good luck on it.

I just had my bathroom painted by my sister-in-law. It's a light grey and it goes really well with the tile in there now. I was just plain white.

I can't believe the difference a paint job makes!

Kathy, I really like a light grey color....bet your bathroom looks really nice.

We did a very light grey in the living room and, most of the time, it looks more like a very pale pink more so than grey. (Probably because of that red wall at the end of the room and our red carpet) Rick says he wouldn't mind going with a bit darker grey this next time around. I love the grey colors.

Yes, Pam, a darker grey would help. The bathroom looks fantastic! It really makes the tile pop and the counter top. However, I have now discovered a dent

in my vinyl soaker tub. We've gone to 2 hardware stores and they don't have anything for it. They suggest we go to a place where they either fix cars or boats.

What we need is a epoxy for a vinyl tub. Grrrr. I'm scared to take a bath in it as we are on the 2nd floor. I don't want any leaks! Geez!!!

Well, it's here! It looks massive compared to the side-by-side. Water line is connected and I discarded the first 1-1/2 gallons of water to get any plastic/coppery taste out. I'll be able to transfer the food over tonight....it's already down to the proper temperatures, both freezer and fridge. It looks really nice.

We went from a 20 cubic foot side-by-side fridge to a 31.5 cubic foot 4-door French door fridge.

It just made some ice.....we just heard it drop!
We have to discard the first container of ice. (We're still going to buy bottled water for the cats. They're used to bottled water and I don't want to do anything that will cause any kidney or bladder problems for them.)
