Hi Everyone!

Our little family has just welcomed our newest pet Mystery, she has been with us for a month now.  We are first time cat owners; we have only had fish & well they all died over the past 3 years (hubby's fault).  Anywho, a little about Mystery, she is about 3 months old, domestic long hair, and she was a stray.  She got the name Mystery by my son, and his 3 cousins.  Long story short, my hubby found her under our car one Saturday, she was meowing.  The next day, his gma (lives next door) gave her some food, the kids were around her & since they didn't know what gender she was, they named her Mystery.  We think she somehow got separated from her mother and maybe a previous owner because she has adjusted very well being an indoor kitten and she adores the kids. She LOVES attention, and will meow like crazy just to get some love.  :D  Mystery is definitely a groomer, she will groom herself and any person she comes in contact with.  She is a clean freak like me!  I would love to have some questions answered by ya'll if you do not mind.  I mean we are going to see the vet again tomorrow but I'm just curious as to what ya'll know.

1. I have read that kitten/cat urine is suppose to be very strong in smell and that if it isn't, then there might be an issue.  Mystery goes in the litter box ALL the time and we do not smell anything unless it is her bowel movement.  I have just assumed that it's because we have that odorless litter.

2. She doesn't shed, is that normal?

3. Is cat hair really bad for children? I was told that they can get asthma from inhaling it...please tell me this is a myth.

4. Does your cat/kitten stand guard at night?  Mystery is such a sweetheart, she sleeps pretty much all day, and when she is awake she is grooming herself or me :D and at night she stands watch outside my door & will look into my son's room.
