My Siamese was ill a year ago, walked hunched with a limp and could only get front paws in litter box. He was only three and vets here said poly- arthritis and put him on prednisone, doxycycline and cyclosporine. All made him sicker. I recalled a wonderful holistic vet who does phone consults.
He cured Frankie in about 5 weeks and I was thrilled. By the way he had a white face from the illness and it is all chocolate brown again.

I'm glad your cat responded well to treatment.
BTW: I think this is the correct link.
Not all holistic vets practice homeopathy and vice versa; the terms are not interchangeable.
I do think it is important that holistic/homeopathic treatment be done by a regular licensed vet who has studied homeopathy/holistic treatments extensively. And, many holistic/homeopathic vets work in conjunction with your regular vet and state they are not a SUBSTITUTE for your regular vet.
I definitely think you should check out these alternative treatments; they have saved some cats'/dogs' lives.
This is a list of holistic vets and a list for homeopathic vets.
As with any vet--regular, holistic, homepathic--do your 'due diligence': research, talk to people who have used alternative treatment methods, and go by your gut feeling: you know your pet.
I used a homeopathic vet for a behavior situation; results were mixed but I may not have followed directions carefully enough.

I did my research and had three recommendations from clients who used him for over ten years for various rescue pets.
A smart person would incorporate both in their pet care. I believe in traditional and alternative for humans too!
For behavior I would have contacted Jackson Galaxy and used spirit essences .

Holistic remedies have real value if the claims made for them are not too grandiose.  Homeopathy is total snake oil!  It features medicines based on the principle of extremely diluted substances.  I would not trust any vet who believed in homeopathic remedies.

I think that there a few people here who have had phone consults with him with mixed results.  So much depends on what the issues are with the kitty.  I think the real value with a holistic vet is their viewing the kitty as a whole.  A lot of times a conventional vet will get tunnel vision and treat just the specifics of a disease rather than considering everything working together and contributing to the disease.

I love this forum.
I appreciate reading people's experiences, good and bad, with holistic vets. MyMisuCat, I'm pleased your cat is well now!

Thank you for posting those lists, Ritz!

I have been using holistic veterinarian and treatments for my 5 cats and dog (and bridge dogs) for 3 years now with great success.  Due to raw diet and holistic/homeopathic treatments my dog went from 8 daily medications down to 1, she was HORRIBLY allergic before her detox and now is doing great.  She was at the vet every other week for something or other.  I am now using homeopathic treatments for my 2 kitties and their arthritis and they are doing great on it.  I think it's a matter of personal preference.  I don't think my dog would be alive without my holistic vet.
