You need to go or join things that you love and meet someone there that loves the same things.  I met my husband in a bar (which I loved at the time!) but we hit it off and 35 years later we're still together even though neither of us drink at all now! So it just shows that when you meet your soul mate you'll know, no matter where it is! You can't change someone, but don't be so picky that you won't compromise either. Being together is a LOT of give and take, you just need to know when! He didn't like cats when I met him (horror!) but that changed, now he even calls himself 'daddy" to our 'boys'.

I was about 12. A friend of mine introduced me to her friend. Then that friend introduced me to my now husband. We were all chatting and 2 of us changed our name and font to the same thing and the other 2 did the same thing. We were all trying to confuse each other.
Mike ended up adding me so we could talk more and we realized we liked each other after a couple of years but we had never even met. We finally met when I was 15 and he was 16 and have been together ever since. We've been together for almost 11½ years now.

Tom and I met online but, not through a dating site.  We both were involved in an online game that had a very extensive board (similar to here).  People would post all kinds of subjects but there was one thread which was specifically for those who belonged to a particular group in that game.  We found we liked each others posts and eventually, one of us contacted the other through a PM.  One thing led to another and we met "inworld" where we enjoyed each other's company.  I was in the middle of separating from my ex - had moved out already when we met.  Eventually, he asked if it would be ok for him to come and meet me.  He was in another city so had to take the bus up.  We met, and it was one of those instantaneous things where we both just "knew" but, because of my situation both of us tried to keep it casual.

That did not work.  To make a long story short after a couple of months he told me he was in love with me.  Worked out that I was in love with him also LOL.  He moved up to be with me and we've been together ever since.  Marriage is always discussed but at our age it isn't like we have to or need to - it's just something we'd like to do eventually.  So, eventually

EDIT: The strange thing, is that our lives seem to have paralled each other through the years - both of us living in similar places, having similar family structures, common things which happened to us in childhood, etc.  So even though I don't necessarily believe in the whole destiny thing it is kind of cool that we did manage to connect.

Rus and I met in a really unromantic atmosphere, it was at a Car Inspection Station but it was baseball that brought us together.  While the cars are being inspected, you wait in this little open space and he was waiting there when I got there.  We both had on our St. Louis Cardinal shirts or jackets, don't remember which.  Living in NJ and being a St. Louis fan is unusual so we both started talking about our team.

We've been together ever since, we don't live together but he spends a lot of time here and to put the cream on the cake....he has three cats of his own, what could be better that that

I'm single, and been so for awhile - mainly because I was focused on studies and work (And letting myself mature/gain wisdom in the meantime, freedom to grow up and all) altogether take my time. But at the moment, I am open to it
If it happens, it happens! I'd like to meet someone some day.

Best of luck on eharmony Draco!

I had used another service some years ago, Match.com

Met a few guys, dated one rather seriously for a while and eventually met my ex through it.

My experience was go with the flow - some dates will be awful, others entertaining.  I always went with a smile and was pleasant and with zero expectations.  Always met in a safe place the first couple of times until I got to know the person better.  My brother is using EHarmony and has had some nice experiences so far.

I met my husband over the phone. Believe it or not,he (and his friend who knew my brother also) had called for my brother. I don;t remember given my brother the message at all. He showed up at my door the next night while I was babysitting my then 2 yr old niece with a fake step father. the rest is history.

I was on Match for a while. I did find some dates.. some really weird dates, some nice dates.. and some men just weren't ready.

I am in no rush, honestly, I have no desire to meet anyone.. but I am bored on weekends. Who knows what will pop up!

Not exactly a game - Second Life.

I always hesitate to say that at first because a lot of people have the wrong idea about it.
Ah, I know that world. And I know what you mean about people having the wrong idea. I usually don't care much for what others think though. And TCS peoples are non-judgmental at all. I mention I play(ed) World of Warcraft, and I get dirty looks.

My BF plays WOW sometimes.  And plenty of other games.  He's very into all of that.  Me not so much.  SL was the only one I ever got into mainly because it wasn't about killing and raiding ROFL.

Although, I hear there is a new one coming out based on Jane Austin.  No I'm not making that up.  It's in development - by someone who worked for Linden Labs for years and a lot of other big name platforms.  Instead of messing up other people physically, you'll be doing it with gossip hahaha.  I'm ALL about that one :p

Craigslist:)!

I was bored in February 2008 and looked online.  NEVER had replied to anyone except for the sales listings.  We talked for hours on email/messenger and then on phone next day and met on 3rd day.

Mostly happy just he is different race and VERY racist family so it puts alot on us.  If they all went back home...it would be tons better but it is what it is.

When I was in ninth grade, Rick and his family moved in up the street from us. I saw him at the bus stop, but didn't really think much about him. There was a huge neighborhood sledding party that winter and he walked down to the hill to join us. And that was that. He was 16; I was 12. We didn't really date or anything....I was 12 and at that point, he was seeing somebody else. But when I turned 14, he started coming around and, at that point, we pretty much knew. And we ended up getting married. That was almost 43 years ago.

  Wow!

I am 43 and single, have been for almost 10 years now. I have Maia who makes me happier then any person could and am content with my life. I don't trust dating sites at all!
