Hello All =)

So I am a new cat lover. I just took in a stray (was) kitten in about 1month 9days ago <3 We instantly hit it off. Well as of recently I had saw a new stray black cat around. Previously there was a black male. Anyways, I called her and she FINALLY came up to me, this being maybe the third time I've seen her. She's always in my back yard, I live in a duplex community. Anywho......... I think she's pregnant. Well my husband does, I honestly cant tell. She cuddles up to me and loves on me, but I'm being cautious for now only because she has scars & small wounds. I'm thinking about getting a crate and taking her to our local humane society to see if theres anything they can do. I just dont want to take her to her death bed.

Sorry I'm just rambling, theres alot going through my head with her.

I just want the best.

The probability is high she is pregnant yes.

As you tell, many of the local societies just pts incoming cats, as soon it is not a problemfree homeraised cat or a kitten old enough to manage on his own.

So IF you take her to the HS, make sure they can and want take her.   the problem is, they will prob say "of course we take her, no problems, just come with her, we wil do the rest".  they dont want you to have bad conscience, nor get uncomfortable looks nor questions...  But the death row and the gas chamer is waiting in their backyard.

You cant take her yourself?  Or know anybody who maybe can?  THIS would be the best for her.   Or as a variation here, if you cooperated with a shelter, and were their fosterhome, having her at your place.   Sometime is this solution possible.

If she comes forward to you already on the third time you met, she is no semiferal.  She is almost surely a home girl who either got astray, or got dumped.

OR being high preg, she know she and her kittens will soon need a safe place, and thus is anxious to get help.

In both scenarios she will be easy to foster at this moment of her life, for any who cares to foster and or adopt.   EVEN if she would be a semiferal cat for real.

Is spaying now = also abortion an alternative for you?   If so, the optimal is to take her to a vet asap, and spay her, asap, before she goes really high preg.

She must to a vet anyway, as she seems to have some sort of problems, these scars and wounds.  Perhaps her hiding place are sticking bushes. It may also be as simple as lack of nutrients.  But it may be others problems too.  "Scabby dog" is a saying, there may surely be scabby cats too.  This is a physical condition, not just a negative saying.

I hope my answer helped you to come forward somewhat.

Please continue with reports and questions.

Good luck!

I know it may not seem much but I have put a big box out my back door with towels in it so she can curl in it. At first she wasn't for it but I left and sat by my window, she eventually sat in it. So this am I went to see if she was there and she wasn't. As I was cooking I heard Milo(my boy) growling and hissing so I knew she was there. So I stopped and got her food& she ate for a bit then just left me. I wish I could take her in but she doesn't even want to come inside. I invited her in & she'd step in for 30 seconds and then leave.

ah, so  you want to take her in? Nice!.  There are surely ways.  Using some sort of trap if nothing else.

Or even proceeding to try and welcome her in.

But, its wise, before you take her in, you go with her to a vet, for check up and deworming.

also, the first week or even longer, you should have her in quarantine, till you are sure the deworming and deparasiting is done.   and best if you let her out from the carrier / trap in this quarantine room...  This way, YOU are letting her out, and this your quarantine room is her relief from this carrier whereby she was to the vet.   You get immediately several plus points as a bonus.

It sounds more complicated than it is. Just think it over, according to how it is in your home.

Although your resident was himself a stay, so I hope he is made of tough wood.  the weak ones usually perish quite soon, they dont become experienced strays.

Good luck!
