I'm so excited to announce the publication of this piece by our very own @LDG! I know she has many fans here, and for all the best reasons, so wanted to share the excitement in this thread.

I'm very grateful to Laurie, who's been doing a lot of writing for the site lately. I can't wait to share the results in January, which is planned to be our special Feline Nutrition month. For now, read her article about water intake and do share your thoughts here or in the comments section.

Thank you Laurie, for taking the time to write this up. Some of these tips I knew, along with getting some new ideas. My senior cat, who until recently had been fed an all dry diet. I grew up with the philosphy that dry food was better for cats than wet and unfortunatly most of the vets at the practice that I go to still follow the old school way of thinking of cat nutrition. Recently my mom started adding wet food to her cat's diet after reading that cats don't get enough water. Around the same time she did this I found out that my senior cat had ckd, which sent me on my own bout of research. Since than all my cats have been transitioned to a wet food diet. I do think I will try adding clam juice to one of the water bowls, since I really would like to encourage Rilley's water intake for his kidneys.

Great article Laurie!  Very clearly written with good tips, some of which I never knew about.  We're lucky that both cats enjoy their water but I know it's a problem for many.  Thanks!
