Hi,

My Burmese cat, Rosie, is pregnant (think she probably has about 2 weeks to go) but Rex, her Tonkinese boyfriend has just started trying to mount her again.

Can anyone tell me what could be going on??

This is the first 'planned' pregnancy I've ever had (mine or a cats!!), and I really don't know what to do.

Thanks heaps

Cuzin (in Australia)

whatever the reason, it it time to separate them!   a high preg shall be non stressed.

Othewise, I could think of several reasons.

If he werent disturing her, just her best friend, the separation wouldnt be necessary (although recommendable to avoid a new litter immediately after the first).

but as he Is disturbing them, separate.

You know the links and ropes?

Here there are anyway some links:

 One from this site:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/pregnancy-and-delivery-in-cats

http://www.icatcare.org/advice/my-cat-having-kittens    ( This is a link to a group of articles on cat pregnancy, birth and kittens.   Read the ones on normal cat birth and on " when to wait and when to worry"  )

http://www.cat-world.com.au/parturition-birth-in-cats

http://www.icatcare.org/advice-centre/cat-care/normal-cat-birth

Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for the info ;-).

I have been a cat granny before, but Holly (my Abyssinian, now on Rainbow Bridge) had her last litter around 16 years ago- and she only had 3 litters. As   she only carried 3 in each pregnancy, she took me by surprise each time, and I only realised when she took over the nearest cardboard box!!

I'm not sure if I can use any of the spray about "feel good" hormone things while Rosie is pregnant? She is in my room, where she has her box (she chose it a couple of weeks ago- cardboard, nothing classy here!!) because every time she is out here he just hassles her, and she really flies at him!! (Stupid boy- he doesn't learn!!).

They are both indoor cats as I think I said in my intro to the site- only one of mine goes out.

Cheers

Cathi
