We brought our cat Piccolo to the Vet after his behavior changed dramatically overnight.  He went from being curious and playful to laying in one spot in the bathroom and not eating.  After taking him to the vet it was confirmed that he was indeed sick, he had a fever and sinus infection. The vet gave him three shots, one for sinus, one antibiotic and one vitamin shot to help with his appetite. He showed us how to inject our cat and told us to administer these same shots for four days. The day the vet gave him the shots we took Piccolo home and he rested and seemed to be coming back to normal in no time.

The next day we gave him his shots with some difficulty. My boyfriend and I had never administered shots before but we were able to complete them. But Piccolo never went back to normal after that. He slept all day and night and was very groggy. We were able to get him to eat twice and noticed he went to the litter box, however he was not his normal feisty, playful, loving self.  We thought maybe he just needed some time but it's been almost 24 hours and he is still acting different.

Is it possible that we gave him the shots wrong?  We were also thinking that maybe he just isn't happy with us but he is not reacting normally to things that cats usually do.  We were thinking maybe his fever came back so we placed a wet rag on him to help bring it down and he did nothing.  He didn't move from his spot, just looked at us.  So we are also thinking about trying to put the medicine in his food instead since we had such trouble getting the shots into him but we aren't sure if this is okay.

What should we do?

Call the vet. Normally injectable medicine can't be given orally. Giving shots can be daunting at first, but is usually easier than pilling. :vibes: that he's soon feeling better.
