New idea! Share something trivial about yourself that you don't normally tell others. It can be as personal or as generic as you want.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a chemist. When I got out of high school, I wanted to be a movie producer. In college, I wanted to be a hotelier.

Now? I want to be a white-hat hacker (and studying for the degree!).

I was a pretty independent two-year-old. I wandered the neighborhood daily, and often visited an elderly lady down the street who fed me. She made homemade bread fresh from the oven and the best salty homemade pickles. She also gave me my first kitten who grew up to become my childhood-long companion. I learned to swim the breaststroke when I was two and a half. I am told I could swim for quite a while underwater and I'd jump off the diving board at the deep end of the public pool, giving some of the moms heart palpitations, lol.

It's amazing that you remember from that period of time. My last recollection was at 4 years old. I tricked my little sister into the elevator and then ran out, leaving her in there as the doors closed. My parents spent the next 3 hours looking for her and I spent the next 3 weeks grounded.

I was once on a TV show when I was a kid. Name of the program was Birthday House.  I was an invited guest of a good friend who was the one celebrating her birthday.  I got to meet Lassie that day - or, well some dog they said was Lassie.  From what I understand there were several of them LOL.  I even remember what I had on - a red velvet dress with white lace trim.  There are a (very) few clips of it on Youtube but I haven't found one yet that I'm in.  I think I'd freak out if I did find it.

When I was in Kindergarden my class was on Lucy's Toy Shop and my younger brother was

also with my mom. He ran on the set  and started crying.

I won the first runner up trophy in a teenage beauty contest for Miss Garden Grove Ca. Later in the dressing room when everyone went to get ready to leave, they came and told me they wanted to disqualify the winner and give me the winner's trophy. They learned that the girl who was declared winner stuffed her bathing suit top which was against the rules. I told them leave it alone and let her be the winner since she obviously needed that somehow. :lol3:

This thread is really interesting. I'm going to have to think for a bit.

What's that?

When I was a kid I wanted to be a farmer's wife. That graduated to vet around... 4th grade. In 5th grade, dissecting frogs, I realized I had no desire to be doing anything remotely like that for a living. :lol3: People stopped asking me what I wanted to be when I grow up by then, and I stopped thinking about it. ;) In high school I started the Special Olympics program, and then decided I wanted to teach special needs kids. By the time I got to college, a little pot and LSD later, all I wanted to do was continue to grow, learn, and help people. I ended up taking a job on Wall Street because by the time I graduated college I wanted to understand how money worked in economic development, and my criteria for taking a job was to take the one with the boss I thought would help me learn the most. It was a good choice. :)

I used to lay Tarot cards for people, until too many dire predictions actually came true.
That's spooky! Very long story, but I am terrified of Ouija boards. And I mean terrified.

I was a very quiet infant/toddler, and my mom kept taking me to the doctor because of that. She thought that I had something wrong with me because I didn't cry like my 3 older siblings. I'm NOT quiet as an adult, mind you. LOL

Many years ago, I did a brief, monthly "spot" for my employer (a public library). I would choose a subject that we had books about, such as a crafts book, then make some of the stuff for a display for the spot. I also wrote the interview for the PR person to interview me with.

It wasn't always cooking or crafts: my first one was about the JFK assassination; I also covered Jack the Ripper.

I dropped out of high school my senior year to follow the Grateful Dead. Then I returned for a half year the next year and graduated.

No UFOs here.  I'd love to know more...

I spent a lot of time at sea on the Great Barrier Reef.

l saw a UFO :para2:
So did I, right outside Ocean City, NJ. I wasn't the only one who saw it. When the guy I was with pulled over to take a better look, so did a lot of other cars. We never found out whether we'd seen some sort of secret military aircraft, a weather balloon, or what.

Decades later my sister and I saw another one outside Omaha, NE. When we stopped to get a better view, it turned out to be a stealth bomber (there's an AFB nearby).

I always wanted to be a vet and had almost every kind of animal in the world. ( my parents were awfully understanding) I had pigeons, lizards. 4 foot long bullsnakes, cats, dogs, skunks, raccoons, birds, you name it I had it! I raised mice to feed to the snakes and meal worms in my bedroom drawers for the lizards. My mom DID put her foot down on that! The most unusual was two baby bats that I fed raw hamburger. I, too, got my year younger sister in trouble all the time, she usually ended up apologizing and I got spanked!

I was fascinated with the possibility of UFOs being intelligent life visiting us. When I was in 6th and 7th grade, I volunteered for an organization that gathered info from around the world, organized it, analyzed it, etc.
