Hi from Missouri. Here are my two little love bugs. Shadow and Princess

Shadow is going to be five years old in December; we rescued him from my brother and my boyfriend’s brother (they lived together at one point). They were abusing him as a kitten and he was taken away from his mother too soon. He is doing extremely well from the situation he came from. Was told that he was a girl when he was a kitten but I didn’t feel that was right. So, when I took him into a vet I had her check for me to make sure I wasn’t guessing wrong and sure enough I was right about him. So his name went from Cleo to Shadow (I called him that because he would follow me around all over the place when he was a kitten). He’s a great cat, very laid back and adores my son with autism. He usually sleeps with him at night.

Princess turned a year old I think in June (I’ll to double check I can’t remember but her birthday is in the summer). She was adopted by my boyfriend’s best friend for his family. She wasn’t working out with them. His children wouldn’t leave her alone and she started to attack their six year old daughter. I told them I would take her in and see how she does. Her and Shadow didn’t get along at first but that is probably pretty normal. Within three days they started to interact with each other and by the end of the week started to play. Her name fits her to a T and she is a big mommy’s girl. She likes to crawl into my arms while I’m sitting at the computer. She is very vocal unlike Shadow who is pretty quiet.

Both of them chilling together:

Welcome to The Cat Site! What beautiful kitties you have. No disrespect meant to you, but if my brother did that to a cat he would not want to get anywhere near me. I'm so glad you took him and Princess in and gave them a loving home. I know you'll enjoy the site. There's so much information on here. The people here are great and so very helpful and friendly. My sister used to live in St. Lois Missouri. I've been there once a long time ago. If you have questions or need help, just ask. Enjoy the site and say hello to Shadow and Princess.

Oh believe me I wasn't happy about it at all. The reason we even went over to where they lived is because they already got in trouble with animal control over the animals they had. We were going to take a puppy (his name is Champ and he's a little younger then Shadow by a few months) someone abandoned over at their apartment. Then my boyfriend's brother ex-girlfriend (jeez that is a mouth full). Was telling me about how they were picking up Shadow by his little head and tossing him when he was doing something they didn't want him to do. They were feeding him puppy chow, didn't have a litter box for him so he and the dog were going all over the place. They also didn't have water down for either animal. So when they finally put water down for them they both drank like they haven't had it in a long time. I said I would take him until someone was able to get a permanent home (they have asked two people already). We went to the pet store to get stuff for Champ but I kept looking at this little kitty I was holding in my arms and I couldn't let him go. It was a big risk because we thought my son was allergic to cats but we discovered that when my brother and boyfriend's brother lived with us they were smoking in the basement (we don't smoke and my son has allergies). Once they both moved out his sniffles stopped. That about almost five years ago now. I couldn't be happier to have Shadow. He loves my son and that cat is his best friend. :)

That's great that your son isn't allergic to him! Did somebody get the dog? I hope so. I have asthma and I have seven cats! I have to do extra cleaning, but they're worth it. I hope it doesn't ever get so bad that I can't be around them. They're my babies. Maybe you can talk to your brother and convince him not to get anymore animals. My brother got a cat a few years ago. I was afraid he would be like that, but he surprised us all. He adores that cat. She snuck out one night when he opened the
door. It was storming and he couldn't find her. He stayed home from work the next day hunting for her. This is a guy that works when he has a abscessed tooth, a cold or the flu! That little cat worked her way into his heart.
Shadow lays on his back like a couple of my cats do. That must be comfortable for them!

We kept the dog. He's a mastiff/pitt mix. His name is Champ.

I have told him not to get anymore animals because he can't seem to take care of them. This isn't the first time I've taken animals away from him due to just neglect on his part.

I'm glad you have the dog too. I was worried about him.

So good of you to take in the kitties and the dog, too.  They look like sweetie pies!

I’m really glad to hear that you were able to give a good home to both cats and the puppy. They look so sweet together, it's great that they get along so well.

One of my best friends has a son who has autism and he is just amazing with animals. They have a horse and two dogs who will do anything for him. The owner of the ranch they stable their horse at took in a litter of abandoned kittens this summer and now the little boy wants a cat too.
