Hi there,
So, my 4-month-old kitten vomited today after he got into drinking some milk this morning. He has drunken milk before and was fine afterwards, but today there were vast changes, as he vomited 4 times. However, every time he vomited, he had less and less stuff coming up (the last time was pure liquid). (Side note: I also noticed that in his vomit was whole pieces of the dry food I feed him. I researched this, and I believe that it may be him eating too fast and too much. Maybe this in combination with the milk that he drank today caused his vomiting?) I called the vet and they simply said that his body is trying to cleanse itself, and should be back to normal in the next few hours. He is playing the same amount, and has a great deal of energy, so he isn't showing any signs of fatigue or anything like that. I haven't witnessed anymore of his vomiting, but he spends a great deal of time under my bed, so he may have done it down there as well (not quite entirely sure yet, I'm planning on checking ASAP!). However, he seems very hungry, and I don't know when I should feed him. The last time he vomited was around 4 or 5 (pacific time). How long should I wait to give this little guy some food?
Thanks so much!

If you are talking about cow milk, most cats are lactose intolerant, so I would cut out the milk. As for food, it's hard to say. Sometimes it's better to let the system rest and reset for 12-24 hours. However, if it is just regurgitation from eating too fast, you can generally feed again shortly after.

I would try to feed him a small bit of wet food (better for him and more easily digestible than dry) and if he keeps it down, feed him a little more. Wet food in general is much better than dry (www.catinfo.org for reasons why), so the more wet food you can incorporate into his diet, the better.

Good advice from vball91. You do want to make sure he does eat to avoid fatty liver disease, which can set in after 48 hours of no food.

Otherwise I'd feed him something simple. Chicken and rice, for instance. It's not balanced, but you're only doing it temporarily while you wait for his tummy to settle completely.
