it's very beneficial in treating wounds on humans, so is it safe to use on cat's wounds too? Is it safe?

Never heard of turmeric for wounds - just for good health while eating. I guess if I were in your shoes I would ask a vet - if nothing else to ask about a safe dose.

Yes, as it's safe for them to ingest it (when used properly), it's safe to use topically. It will stain their skin yellow as it does in humans.

There are contraindications for using it as an internal supplement, but I don't know if those apply when using it topically. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/662.html

Bear in mind, this article at the NIH is written for use in humans, so doses would not be appropriate for cats. I know you're asking about using it topically, but just in case anyone stumbles on the thread, just thought I'd put that out there. :)
