My kitten was eating dry food at the shelter before I adopted her.. At home she only eats wet food.. I'm afraid she's not getting all the nutrients she needs without the dry food & I'm unsure but is dry food better for cats or is wet food?

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
What wet food are you feeding her? Are the cans or pouches labeled "complete" or are they labeled either "intermittent feeding" or "supplemental" feeding?

Wet food that is labeled "complete" will provide your kitty all the needed nutrients, and it is much better for your little predator!

This site is written by a vet, and is easy to understand: http://www.catinfo.org

Dry food is convenient and can help lower the cost of feeding, but it is never the healthiest choice. :)

The wet food is the canned ProPlan kitten chicken flavored.. Cali (my kitten) loves it. But I've been mixing very small amounts of simply nourish kitten dry food in with it she eats a little of the dry food but not much. If wet food is healthier & better for Cali I will be more than happy to stick with that (not very concerned about the cost only what's best) I just didn't know if that would be good for my little furbaby :)

The wet food you're feeding her is nutritionally complete, so there is no need for any dry food at all.

Cats are designed to get most of the moisture they need from their food and seldom drink water, so wet food is always a better choice to maintain proper hydration, and also because cats' bodies aren't very good at processing starchy foods.

The site LDG linked to is excellent for kitty nutrition.
