Happy Halloween, everyone! It's my favorite holiday and I am excited!

So many questions to ask about this day.. yet, only one question to be asked! Umm.. *draws straw*

Halloween Shows/Movies

I recently saw "Halloween is Grinch Night" the other day.. and I've never, ever seen it before! First aired in 1977. Many people apparently never heard of this! Have you?

Well, that's not the real question.. the real question is.. What's your favorite Halloween Show or Movie? Discuss!

My favorites are horror movies, the old horror movies. I don't care for slasher flicks, where somebody goes around killing people (i.e. the Halloween movies, for example). I like the older movies, campy though they may be.

A movie that scared me half to death at the time was the original Night of the Living Dead. Rick was away and a GF was spending some time with me. We watched the movie and then she was supposed to go home. Well, she didn't want to go by herself, so I took her home. But then I didn't want to go home by myself, so she came back with me....and she just spent the night at our house. Cowards.....we were cowards that night. I don't know why it bothered us so much; it's not really a horrible movie or anything like that, pretty campy really. But that night, we were both scared.

A movie that scared our son was The Tingler with Vincent Price. An old B/W movie. He was quite young at the time and, to be honest, we didn't realize he was even paying attention. We were visiting with some of Rick's cousins and DS was playing with Legos on the floor. Well, the movie came on and they wanted to see it, so we sat down with them. That night, after we got home, DS had horrible nightmares. We ended up bringing him to bed with us for about a week or so before he calmed down. I felt terrible and very guilty about the whole thing.

And actually, we never allowed the slasher movies in the house. I've never watched one the whole way through. When DS was younger, he had a friend stay with us over a weekend. We went into the local video store; the friend wanted to rent a bunch of slasher movies and DS told him right out that that was not going to happen. I'm sure he watched a couple of them when he got older, but he wouldn't let his children watch them either.

Happy Halloween!

It's a tricky one for me - I enjoy horror movies (The paranormal kind, not the slasher ones) but few actually creep me out. I guess first comes to mind is The Exorcist. That spider crawl and the faces on the darkened walls actually create some real eerieness the first time I saw it. Paranormal Activity had some moments too, though mainly had an effect afterward. The Excorcism of Emily Rose too, had some moments.

I had high hopes for the Woman in Black, but it fell short.

The Ghost Hunting game, The Lost Crown, was always a favourite of mine.

Also, I love the older Simpsons Halloween episodes. The new ones aren't really up to par...

And of course, I enjoy Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International. Especially since they often combine my love for history with an interest in the paranormal, and their Halloween specials are often nifty.

There is more, but those came to mind first

Found a new favourite the other night - Vampires Suck. I found it hilarious - they took pot shots at nearly everything from the horrid, saccharine sweet boy and girl singing groups to mass syncrhonised dancing to Taylor Swift to vampire and werewolf movies. It had no plot, a weak story and the inevitable star crossed lovers as did almost ever B movie ever made but the satire and political incorrectness was superb.

Also like Sleepy Hollow as well as other Burton films for the wealth of talent Burton brings to his casts. For some reason, I had missed the first few minutes of Sleepy Hollow the couple of times I saw it and discovered it contained one of my favourite British character actors, that being Alun Armstrong who is better known to North American audiences as Brian Lane in New Tricks. Also love Beetlejuice and hope they run it at a civilised hour rather than after midnight or in the afternoon.

Hate the slasher flicks as the sole purpose seems to be showing as much gore in two hours as is possible. Gore with an appropriate story is fine but gore and violence for the sake of gore and violence is not worth watching.

I'm with Pam, too - the old B&W horror films are the best, e.g., the originals of "The Haunting", "The Body Snatchers" or "Night of the Living Dead". I remember the days when Vincent Price and Christopher Lee were cult.

I enjoy watching Hocus Pocus around Halloween!

My husband likes slasher films, Friday the 13th, Halloween and that kind of stuff. I prefer zombie movies year round!

We dont celebrate halloween; but I do love all the Snoopy cartoons.  So I'll go with "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!"
I still love that movie after all these years!

I love horror flicks. IFC has a Saw marathon tonight. I may be quite sleepy in class tomorrow.

I love criminal minds and cover my eyes at the horrid bits.
We don't celebrate Halloween here.

I love, love, love Halloween!  It's my most favourite "Holiday"!

I used to dress up all of the time for the kids when I was living in a house. It was fun to see their faces when the door opened and they saw my costume.

It's a shame that so many places regulate when and the hours kids can go out, some places they even schedule it for a day other than Halloween.
