Jumping on Celtic again...

I studied on Celtic Literature (Welsh/Irish), from The Mabinogiion to the Ulster Cycle, so promiment female characters, from warriors, dieties, princesses...

-Queen Medb (Maeve) - Warrior Woman, leader
-Olwen - Daughter of a giant
-Scathach - Warrior Woman, trainer of the hero Cú Chulainn.
-Rhiannon - Promiment figure in Welsh Mythology, wife, mom, possible relation to a horse goddess etc
-Ceridwen - Diety

Etc.

Let's see....famous and/or notorious people. And of course I'll aim with women:

Elizabeth Bathory? Allegedly killed young girls and soaked in their blood in order to keep her youthful appearance.

Mary Read and Anne Bonny? Female pirates.

Boudica? Iceni woman who led a revolt against the Romans.

Eleanor of Aquitaine? One of the most powerful women in medieval history.

Empress Matilda? Fought for the throne as her own right in medieval era.

Hatshepsut? A Queen regent of Egypt who made herself Pharoah.

Hypatia? Great female philosopher/astronomer/mathematician, but was later brutally killed via dismemberment/dragging/flaying (Depending on the version)

Aspasia of Miletus? Influential Greek philospher.

Lizzie Borden? Allegedly killed dad and stepmom with an axe.

Mary Anne Cotton? English woman who allegedly poisoned over 21 people.

Amelia Elizabeth Dyer? Allegedly killed 400 newborns.

Ada Lovelace? A countess who was a mathematician and writer.

Madame de Pompadour? promiment woman in the French courts during the 18th century.

Émilie du Châtelet? Mathematician

Andraste? Celtic War Goddess

Ethelfleda? "Lady of the Mercians", succeeded  power after the death of her husband, skilled military leader.

Grainne O'Malley? Irish Pirate during the 16the century.

Joanna of Flanders? Countess who took up arms to defend her town. She led soldiers and defeated her enemies.

Camilla? Amazon Queen.

Blenda? Female hero who leads women and succesfully annihilates a pillaging enemy.

Agustina de Aragon? Legendary figure, defended Spain during the War of Independence, and became an officer.

Not sure if I am helpful or just being a plain nuissance
 anyway, again, goodluck!

P.S - No worries about the saddle, I have one in my bedroom!

Queen Vashti. Wife of king Ahadueras of persia who had Vashti killed because she refused to dance naked in front of his male guests and he lost face.

Thanks for all the input folks... still mulling it over.
Any western theme name ideas?

... yes that's a saddle... in my living room :/
Love it! I don't know why but the first thing that pops into my head when I see this picture was Johnny Cash's song Ring of Fire

I'm a Gone with the Wind fan and since your daughter is Scarlett; how about a name from there? (Now i want to name a cat Scarlett btw! My mom had an orange cat named Pumpkin. He kept his name from the shelter. He was adopted in October too.)

Lord! Lol, I thought this thread would help but now I'm getting more ideas and having an even harder time narrowing it down.

Another cute shot of her... in the saddle stirrup.

Every time I see her I see fire, flames, embers.......

But she also looks like Amber, the golden Jewel of the forest

She is! And all the time... even with my 14 month old daughter. They're SO cute together!

I think Clementine would be a good name. It kind of has a western/cowgirl feel to it and a clementine is a little orange fruit, just like your little orange kitty! Also Sadie could be a good name. It is similar to the word "saddle." I noticed that Bonnie was on the list. It is both a Scottish name and a notorious name. Some other western sounding names could be June, Daisy Mae, or Sage. Or, since you got her around Halloween time, you could call her Hallie or Eve or Evie (in honor of All Hallow's Eve). Samhain could be another possibility. If you want to name her based on color, you could call her Ginger, Blaze, or Sunny (or the Welsh version Sulywan, if I'm spelling it correctly). Enya is a name that means "blazing" or "jewel." Just some possibilities to think about!

I forgot about Tabitha, Samantha, and Endora (witches from Bewitched) for Halloween themed names. Also, here's a stretch: We have candy corn at Halloween--Maize (or Maiz) is another name for corn. Maisie (?) is a cute Scottish name that sounds similar. Does your brain hurt yet?

Lol it does mildly. But I love the endless fountain of information. I LOVE Sadie!!! But a girlfriend is due next month with a baby girl and calling her Sadie. I'm so excited! No one uses that name anymore and I lobe it! Although strongly thinking about Clementine and Dixie.

I think it would be cute to have a baby and a kitten with the same name. You and your friend could both have baby girls named Sadie, and you could take their picture together! It would be even more precious if the baby (human) had red hair too.

Oh I think it would be too. But doubt she would agree. And since its her first and probably only child I don't want to do anything to upset her.

Amber's a nice name. Why don't you call her that and it'd be your own choice.

Wow, that's a tragic story! I'm sorry for your loss. Not to be insensitive, but what happened to all their 11 cats and horse?

I liked Amber too but that would be hard for everyone I guess.

Merida is cute too, and I love the idea it's from a movie your daughter enjoys, and about a strong Scots girl.

Maisie is a character in Scots children's books.  Maisie from Morningside. (She's a grey or brown tabby though I think).

Carot is a great play on words and of course suggests she is a precious gem.  :-D

Now I'll add to your headache with a couple of new ones.....

Bridie:  a traditional pastry food local to Forfar in Scotland, oringinally made by a woman called Maggie Bridie.  It's folded over with meat filling,  kind of flat and D shaped.

Buttterscotch: a traditional Scots boiled sweet made from butter and sugar - kind of orange in colour.
