Hi everyone! New here...I just adopted (about a week ago) a wonderful, 3-4 year old DMH black and white cat. He's FIV+, but I didn't want that to deter me from adopting him because he's so sweet and genteel. Everyone at the shelter loved him and even when I took him to the vet everyone there that met him said he was so sweet. I'm already loving having him around, but unfortunately he came down with a pretty bad eye infection over the weekend so he's not too keen on me since I have to give him multiple different medicines twice a day now. Any suggestions as to how to make his transition smoother while I'm medicinally assaulting him on a daily basis? I feel bad but I know it's what he needs to get better, and especially since he's FIV+ I want to be vigilant with the medicine.

Hi and welcome to TCS. Thanks for adopting him. What's his name? Any pictures of him?

Cats seem to forgive and forget pretty quickly once the medicating ends. You could run a Feliway pheromone diffuser to help him be more relaxed though and become more comfortable with his surroundings.

Yes, cats have short-term memory, for better (taking the cat to a vet) or worse (feed me I'm hungry).
Can you get any of the medications flavored?
