Hi all, let me start off by saying i'v never owned a pet before & knew close to nothing about animals

until a few days ago, on friday night there was a massive storm outside, i heard weird squeaks outside

and found a kitten laying on the ground soaked clearly near death, swiftly brought her inside dried her off

and naively tried to get her to drink milk and or water from a bowl (i was clueless.) i managed to get her

warm and she slept for hours and hours while i did research how what i should do from here, as this kitten

really tugged on my heart strings with the adorableness & how helpless she was outside, i fell in love.

So the next day i purchased a can of unvaporazed milk as per instructions and mixed half and half with water

& started feeding her with with a syringe, it was successfully, and feeding her since then has been successful.

(that's the night she had a poop, but not since...) i read somewhere that they wont really poop due to the formula she

drinks being liquid, there's nothing to poop out? according to the site she is 5 weeks old and should be doing it without

me helping & she did it once by herself so she can & doesn't need me to do it for her..? (need advice for that please!)

So this morning during the usual feeding she pushed the syringe away and just straight up stuck her head in the glass and drank

like that, which says to me she is able to drink alone now without a syringe & start the weaning ? her last meal i put some kibbles in a

sourcer and soaked them in her usual formula mix and she demolished all of them (but wouldn't touch the water next to her..) and still hasnt

pooped, which was roughly 5 hours ago, and theres a litter box on the side of the bed & i put her in it after each meal, so she knows there is one..(advice please! :) )

her general behaviour, she is extremely playful now that she is fed and has energy, shes been doing some glorious pouncing jumps all around,

she explores all over the bed and behind the covers, she sneak attacks me and loves gnawing on my fingers and clinging to me (so adorable.)

she has also taken a liking to sleeping on my tummy and purrs sometimes which tells me she is happy?

sorry for the bad english, this is my 3rd language, if anyone can give me advice on the pooping and if im doing something wrong, please tell me! this is my

first time having a pet let alone raising one at a young age away from its mother.. thus making me the mother /eek.

There are some TCS members who are well versed in kitten care. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you.

I'm glad to hear she has regained some energy. Any idea how old she might be? Can you post a picture?

The important thing is to keep her warm. If she's really young, let her lay on your bare chest if you can. If you can purchase kitten formula, I think that would be better for her because it contains nutrients that she needs. There's a brand called KMR. I'm not sure about using the can of unvaporized milk. Also, depending on how old she is, she may eat some canned cat food.

As she is well, you had apparently done marvellously well in a difficult situation.

A luck was she was apparently essentially healthy in herself, not even much fleas. Just cooled down and hungry and alone.

As she is healthy, there is perhaps no dirty need to go to vets at once.  But she will need deworming and deparasiting - I guess she had some fleas and mites?   She has almost entirely surely also roundworms.

It is good the vet advises you what preparates are safe to use.  Many dewormers sold OTC in pet shops are dangerous for cats, or at best - doesnt work.    So it IS possible to deworm yourself, but you must know which preparate to use.

Later on, if dewormed properly and living inside only, she prob wont need to be dewormed again. Not ever.

-  She may have more parasites too, but as she is in good shape now, bouncing etc, she cant have really bad problems nor infections.  Btw, her parasites nor possible diseases are essentially NOT harmful for you, with the exception of fleas.  You prefer not to have them all over your place.

Re Pooping, it is just partly true what you read.  Their poo now when eating milk IS different from when they eats solids. But it is still poo, and they must poo regularly.  Some do it daily, some not so often.   Its usually like toothpaste in consistency, and moustard-alike in color.

At this age stimulation usually not necessary, but it may still be wise by you to stimulate her some.  If nothing else, you are behaving like her mom would, take it as a completely natural massage.

Make sure her litter is a non clumping litter.  Kittens often try to eat the litter, and we dont want it to clump inside...

Good she begin to eat more than her formula.   As long as the food is verry watery, practically a fluid, she wont drink much water, she doesnt need.

In the future, strive to have wet canned cat food as her main food.  It is almost always better than dry cat food.

Btw, you can begin already now with some wet cat food.  Water it down a little if you wish. Or mix with this formula.   Baby food is another possibility. Gerber stage one, turkey or chicken, are a safe bet.

(best are bought  kmr - formulas, or goat milk.  But your emergency formula did apparently worked after she got warm enough).

A useful link for fosterers of orphaned kittens,

www.kitten-rescue.com.

What a marvellous story you have experienced!   You did saved this little sis of ours, but simultaneously it was  literally like a gift from Above!      :)

Your english is excellent, esp as it is your third language.   My english is too my third language, which is easy to notice now and then...   :)

Proceed to report and ask!

Good luck!

Yes, she does seem to have some kind of eye infection. Definitely pay attention to that. If you notice the third eyelid showing, swelling or redness, she needs to see a vet ASAP. For now, you can GENTLY wipe her eyes from the inner corner to the outside with a soft, clean, warm damp cloth/towel. Use a different cloth for each eye so as to not spread infection.

Again, I don't have a whole lot of experience with kittens, but sometimes using the litter box is learned from mama and/or siblings. You can train her by putting the piece of poo in the litter box and then put the kitten in the litter box. I did laugh when you said she pooped on your pillow.

Just an update for those who replied, she went to the vet and had early stages of snuffles/sniffles? the eye disease, she

got an injection and medication that she is taken, seems to of helped alot within 2 days already & the redness around the eyes

are almost gone, and discharging alot less. slowly weaning her from forumla onto soggy forumla soaked kibbles which i think she's enjoying,

maybe im putting to much in the plate but she's definiately eating a good bit at a time. Been following advice online on how to litter train her

which has done wonders & shes managing to poop in there by herself and no longer on my pillow (touch wood) but still pee's sometimes on the bed,

which isnt that big a deal as she

is still young.

would like to thank everyone for the help <3 you all.

I'm so glad you took her to the vet earlier and had everything checked out.
