Last Christmas, as I was returning home, I heard a tiny cat meowing. It was cold and shivering in snow, and very very tiny. I fed it, and it gobbled up a whole tin of food I happened to have in my car. It was tiny and grey, with long hair and some white markings on its face.
I have seen a few more feral/stray cats in the neighbourhood, and have not done anything to feed them, because I just don't have the resources to start. However, there are lots of restaurants around, and cozy hiding places, so they can fend for themselves quite well, and none of them look to be starving.
Last night, coming home from Thanksgiving church services, a flash of grey ran in front of me. It was not like any others that I have seen lately.
And then, just sat on the sidewalk next door looking at me. I went to the car where I had a tin of cat food, and brought it to the cat. And wouldn't you know, it was a long haired grey cat, with white markings on its face. I have no idea if it was the same cat, but I would like to think that it was. And just shows up on holidays.
