Laurie - Thanks for your well wishes and prayers. We hope to know soon why he was having these problems.

Carla - My Dad's name is Norman. Yea, guess who I was named after?

I'm so relieved that he gets to come home. I hope they will find the right medication so that we can have him with us for a long time. He is such a great Dad, the kind that loves you no matter what.

No brothers, then, Nora? LOL! Nora's a lovely name. How about our friends who have three girls, the last two twins. Since they knew they were stopping, one of the twins was named Joey-Anne (they're Italian, and her twin is Gianna-Maria, otherwise known as Gigi, and their older sister is Alexa-Marie, otherwise known as Lexi or Lexa).

Guess who Joey-Anne (called just Joey) was named for?

Laurie,

No brothers (LOL) - you are absolutely right. Just one sister (13 mo. older) and they gave her the pretty name - Kathleen. I tease my Dad that he and my mom had no imagination. Actually, I was named by my Mother (she was 43 when I was born) and she knew I was her last child. I guess she figured Dad should have at least one child named after him.

Nora, I think you're nuts. The name Kathleen is a nice name - even Kathy. But Nora is also a beautiful name, and given that I've never met another Nora before, I'd have to say that it IS original and unique. I'd be both proud and happy if I were you, and I think your sister got the short end of the stick on the naming thing - though a wonderful name, too - just not as unique.

Just as a side note, I love the name Nora. It makes me think of Nick and Nora Charles, in The Thin Man series. Myrna Loy was one elegant, smart, witty, charming, beautiful woman, and that is what Nora sounds like to me.

Great news about your dad!

Thanks all for your kind words. I went and saw Dad last night and he looked a little frail, but he was so glad to be home with the dogs and cat (he lives with my sister and her husband).

Also, thank you for the kind words regarding my name. I just don't think of it as a very ladylike name - I guess because I was named after my father. My best friend, Paula, is also named after her dad -Paul. It was one thing we had in common when we first met.

My daughter is actually named for my husband. LOL. We got off easy with it though. His middle name happens to be feminine, Lynn. Thus we have Samantha Lynn.

I think Nora is a very pretty name.
