His name is Monster (earned when a mischievous kitten) and he is now 13 years old.  I'm concerned because he has become skin and bones although there is always food in front of him.  It may be time to see the vet, but I'm looking for any knowledge or experience readers may have that may explain this or suggest what may help him.  He throws up fairly regularly too, but with 3 cats in the house I don't always know which cat it may have been.

It could be hyperthyroidism, diabetes...it could be a lot of things. I'd get him to the vet for a checkup and blood work.

Follow up:  I did take Monster to the vet last week.  He got a thorough exam and a blood test.  Everything checked out very well.  Now we are feeding him canned chicken once a day.  Spoiled cat! :D  He loves it!

I'm glad he checked out healthy. Have you seen this article by the leading vet in endocrinology? http://endocrinevet.blogspot.com/2011/11/optimal-protein-requirements-for-older.html  Older cats do need a high protein diet to stave off muscle loss.

Is the canned chicken you are feeding him a cat or human food? If human, it is probably too high in sodium and lacking the added vitamins and minerals of cat foods. I would recommend finding a high protein food from this list:
