Hi!

I joined this site because it came up several times on topics relating to raw food, CRF, and herbs, and because a friend recommended it.

I have *several* cats (translation, a herd of cats) and have done rescue for 20+ yrs.  Half of my cats are moggies, a couple with major medical problems.  The other half are persians, again some with major medical issues.  All, but one, are rescues, mainly from Los Angeles County or City Shelters.  My husband jokes that I adopt the sickest cats in the shelters -- which isn't that far from the truth.  The one exception is Peaches, my show girl.

I feed raw food which I make and have been making for 25+ years.  I prefer to use herbs, nutritional supplements, and homeopathy to deal with problems.  And I don't vaccinate after the kitten shots.

I look forward to learning and talking about holistic methods.

Linda

Welcome to The Cat Site Linda! I think you will enjoy it. There's a lot of people on here that do the raw diet, supplements, holistic, etc. I have seven cats. All are strays or rescues. Kudos to you for helping the sicker cats. They don't usually get adopted out. I've found a lot of helpful suggestions here and talked to some really nice people. Enjoy the site!

<If I use small numbers, it won't look as bad...
>  My herd is 3 DSH, 3DLH, 6 Persians, 1 Himalayan, and 2 Persians I'm 'holding' for someone.  These last two are technically owned by her but they lost their house, couldn't find a rescue to take in 10yr old persian which pee on carpet, so I took them for the time being.

Oops, just notice the double post, sorry about that.

Haha--several groups of small numbers doesn't sound like as many.  Good try.

I'm impressed that you take in the kitties probably nobody else would take.  Two of my more recently adopted kitties have IBD--they are a lot of work and I can't imagine having 15 cats, many of them with issues of one kind or another.  You must have the patience of a saint.

So the smaller numbers didn't help -- dang!

I have patience for cats -- not so much for people.  And it's not as bad as it sounds.  Most of their problems are digestive-related problems so once the food is adjusted then they are okay mostly.  Okay, I have to make 3 different blends and add specific supplements to 6 cats, but I am in a pattern so it's not bad.  The cats that need fluids are more of a problem because I have so little time after work, so I hat to skip combing everyone and give fluids.
