I put this in the cat health rather than ferals because it is something that can be going on with any cat.
So Teddy, who I have been caring for since he was 4 months old, is now over 10 yrs old. I adore him, the only feral out of 11 colonies I care for that allows me to pick him up
2 weeks ago I showed up to feed, and he came out but was hacking, like something in his throat.
I watched and he was able to eat fine, I highly suspected (and still do) a foxtail in his throat.
I thought I would wait to see how he was later, if he could hopefully clear it on his own.
Well, my normally always there waiting for me Teddy has not been showing up when he hears my car, I have seen him come as I was leaving.
Tonight, there he was, but he isn't looking good. He is still hacking, he looks thinner, and his ribcage looks wider......
So of course now that it is saturday night, I need to get him to the vet.
It won't be until monday, so I wanted to get some input about what you all thought, and what is causing his ribcage to be wider? The coughing?
Makes sense to me but I have never seen this before.
I don't want him to die from this, he is my special boy so I am worried now.
Hard to imagine a stupid foxtail could not be absorbed eventually.......
