Need some advise!!

On our way home from the store today, my husband spotted this tiny little black kitten huddled up in a ball on the side of the road. We pulled over and i called for the kitten and she came right over.. i then noticed half of her tiny little tail is gone! It looks like it may have been run over or bit it off, i feel so bad for her. She is just so small! I don't know how old she is but she has some teeth so i am guessing maybe 3-4 weeks. I brought her home and bathed her in warm water with dish soap and fed her some soft food because she is so skinny, she devoured it!!

I live in a small town so my options are very slim when it comes to vets.. we have no emergency vet on the weekends (Mon - Fri only).  I have given her a clean warm place to sleep and she has been out ever since (approximately 5 hours).. I am hoping she is just exhausted and needs rests but her tail worries me. I cleaned it as well as i could, put some Neosporin on it and wrapped it in gauze, it wasn't bleeding but still raw.

Is there anything i can give her that could help treat an infection until i can get her in to the vet on Monday? I have never cared for a kitten before; any advise would be appreciated!

Thank you for rescuing the poor baby. It sounds like she was starving as well as injured. I'm not sure what else you can do other than what you have already done. I know that colloidal silver is good on external wounds, but I haven't used it myself so I can't advise on the proper treatment method. I would just keep it clean until I could get her to the vet on Monday.

If you want to wash off the stump / wound, you can use saline water.

the dosage is, 1 teaspoon (3grammes) in a litre water, boil up so it dissolves and get somewhat sterile.

Pour freely and profusely.  This is no hokus pokus, they use it in hospitals too.  Exactly the same trick.  Rich hospitals use it ready made, poorer hospitals make it themselves.

The litter shall be non clumping!  So young kittens may eat the litter, so clumping litter is dangerous.

You seem to have done it excellently well.

Proceed to report and ask.

Tx for helping this little sibling of ours!

Good luck!

Thank you for helping her.  I would just keep the wound clean until Monday.  It may not get infected now because she's received good care so soon.

If she's eating solid food, she's probably 6 or 7 weeks old.  The vet should be able to tell by her teeth.

I'm not surprised she's sleeping and that's a good sign.  She feels safe and can rest up now, preparing for her new life!
