Everything seems stable, almost back to normal, except not sure what happen. Lots of blood

Two hours ago, we heard our 15yo female [somewhat fragile condition but can still give a mighty scratch] scream in another room, our 6 year old male cat [physically strong cat, can be a bully] ,former stray as a kitten, came running out of the room.

I went into the room to the fight scene and found many small blood spots running along the room's floor.  I immediately thought my 15yo female cat was injured, bleeding. I caught up to her, looked everywhere, she seemed fine, and in good spirits.

Found out my 6 year old male cat was where the blood was coming from. As he ran across though the house, he was leaving a trail of blood droplets.

Finally got him...contained him....the bleeding stopped on its own, kind of quickly. Although i would estimate there was about 30 droplets of blood in the house

To make a long story that followed short, cleaned him up gently....appears his left leg, inside elbow area is where the blood came from.  He appears to be 90% himself now. He continues to clean the spot.

The nearest 24 hour vet is 70 miles away, over 2 hours travel time.

Any advice?

If the bleeding stopped, I would watch him overnight and just make sure he doesn't start bleeding again. If he seems weak from loss of blood, then you would probably have to make the trek to the hospital. Does your vet by chance have a cat hospital attached? Sometimes they will open for emergencies that happen after hours.

Do you know how he got injured? Did he get caught on something? Did the other cat scratch or bite him?

If the bleeding has stopped, I wouldn't rush to the vet.  I would just keep and eye on the area to make sure it doesn't get infected.

Can you take a picture of it and send it to the vet tomorrow to see what they say about it?

I live in the sticks. Animal vets, cat vets, are not that great.  They do not do 24 hours, even their phone answerer after hours will say that.   The nearest vet is 70 miles away, a long, rough 70 miles. My last cat emergency,my cat made 50 miles.

Ok, i will watch to make sure he does not start bleeding again

To answer a question, i can almost say with certainly, my 15 yo female cat, who is constantly getting bullied by the 6 year old male, likely gave him a mighty scratch in defending herself.  My 15yo and my 6 year old male are sweet cats. I think they have a 'whos  top cat in the house'  issue.  Been going on for years.

UPDATE

i posted at about 11pm est

its now 1215am est

i am going to rest near my cat til morning  [in case anyone posts and i dont respond right away]

thanks

my male cat appears to be back to normal this morning. back to his routines.

he was a stray cat for his first year of life, he suffered worse injuries but that

does not mean of course, to disregard this injury as nothing.

should i be feeding him anything special? because he lost blood?

if i brought him to a vet,how would he get treated? there is no sign

of injury. but of course infection is a concern.

I think a vet could check for any sign of infection and should be able to disinfect and clean  and up the wound. He may need a course of antibiotics if he has an infection, so I would always say a vet is a good idea. Is he eating drinking normally?
