Hi, I'm Ettina.

I currently have two cats, Katrina and Lilly. Lilly (3 months old) just came to live with us a couple of days before Thanksgiving, while Katrina is fifteen and has lived with us since she was Lilly's age. Both of them are from humane societies.

Katrina is a stocky, muscular tortoiseshell with a short but very thick coat. She has green eyes. She's a very caring, empathic cat - when I'm crying she'll make a 'mrrr' sound (like a mom calling to kittens) and come up to cuddle with me. But she's also a very sensitive cat and pretty disgruntled about the new arrival. She was a very prolific hunter when she was younger, and we still find the occasional corpse in our yard. Despite her age, she's still fairly playful when she feels like it. She spends most nights purring on top of me.

Lilly is a tabby, mostly greyish with a hint of orange/red. She has intense amber-yellow eyes. I've only known her for a week, but she seems like a wonderful little kitty. She's playful and entertaining, but also quite cuddly. She seems very bonded to humans, especially me, and she'll follow me around the house when she can. When I'm home all day, she spends several hours around lunchtime sleeping on my lap. And according to my brother she's very cuddle at night (she spends nights in his room to prevent fighting with Katrina). Apparently she was found all alone in the Tim Horton's' drive through at 5 weeks old, so she may have some 'early separation from mom cat' type issues.

Oh, I forgot to talk about myself!

I'm 24, high-functioning autistic and living at home due to my disability, and a 3rd year psychology student. I often feel like I understand cats better than people, and since I'm learning how to do psychological research, I've tried out a few friendly experiments on my cats. (You can see me testing Smudge - who sadly disappeared about a month ago - on object permanence here. So far Lilly scores the same as Smudge did, and Katrina refuses to be tested.) I have a passion for understanding how my cats think and feel. One particular interest of mine is how domestication has shaped cats - a lot of people talk about the impact of domestication on dogs, but cats have also been profoundly shaped by us.

I have two parents and a 15 year old brother.
