Hi everyone. I recently adopted a 2 month old adorable kitty. I also have a four year old adult cat. Effie, the adult cat was on a hypoallergenic diet due to allergies and stomach issues. The hypoallergenic canned food does not contain the proper nutrition for a growing kitty and the vet recommended I get some quality grain-free kitten food. The problem is Effie will eat the kitten food as well. Does anyone have any recommendations on brands that would be good for both a cat and a kitten? It can't contain chicken (this seems to affect Effie's stomach the most). I'm going to give up on the hypoallergenic stuff until the kitten is an adult. Also, Even though I know a raw diet is best, I just don't have the time for it. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not certain of it, but don't kittens and adults eat the same food, barring special medical concerns/too young? We feed the same food to kittens and adults and nursing moms at the shelter - but then again we feed them dry food too.

Anyway I know there are brands with "All Life Stages" - I believe Halo's and Felidae are two examples.

I have always thought the thing about kitten food is more a marketing tool.  A high quality food can be fed to both, the kitten just needs to eat more until he finishes growing.

Thanks everyone. I did some research and bought Nature's Variety cat food, which people have recommended for cats with allergies. It also had a higher protein content, which would be good for kitty. I hope it's a good compromise.
