Two part question today -

When was the last time you went to an eye doctor?

Do you wear contacts, glasses, have had laser surgery, etc?

I hadn't been to the eye doctor in far, far too long. My husband insisted I go, and I went on Thursday.

I had worn glasses when I was in college for headaches I had been getting in college from astigmatism. I hadn't worn them in years. Last time I went to the eye doctor my sight was fine and there was no need for glasses. At this visit my eyesight was a bit worse, but not too bad. It was up to me if I wanted to get glasses or not and she feels I don't need them all the time. I opted to get the glasses.

I have been wearing contacts since the 80's and can't see a thing without them. I hate having anything on my face and rarely wear my glasses. I only use them to read before bed and pop my contacts in as soon as I wake. Laser surgery scares me because what if they mess up? For me, it's not worth the risk, no matter how minimal. I go to the eye doctor every 2 years or so and load up on boxes and boxes of disposable lenses.

I went last  year and got an eye test and new glasses.( just for reading)  I can't  see so even with glasses I have to read large print sometimes. I'm going back next year for new glasses every 2 years. I seem to always lose my glasses.

I last went in 2010 I think. I go about every 5 years.  I wear glasses really for seeing things far away but I leave them on 24/7 minus to wash my face.  I HATE not having them as vision is BAD

I just got out of surgery on Aug 14th, been wearing an eye patch since. Going in for a new custom made prosthetic on the 31st (lost my eye as a kid). So exciting!

I've worn glasses since I was three years old. And I've hated them that long.

We go to the eye doctor every year. Last year, my prescription really hadn't changed all that much, but she did tell me that I've got cataracts and should have surgery. I haven't gone in yet this year and we both have to go. And I know I'm going to need new glasses because my eyes are blurry. And chances are, once I go in, we'll be talking surgery on both eyes.

I used to wear contacts and I was one of those rare people who could wear them all the time without a problem. And I did. I wore them to bed (and they weren't the kind you should wear all the time), in the shower, in the pool. You name it, I wore them there. Constantly. They were the old Ciba Soft colors....in a beautiful shade of green. Looked gorgeous with my deep auburn hair. (That was when I had deep auburn hair.)

Alas, or actually it was a good thing that I lost one of the lenses. When I went into the doctor for a replacement, it turns out that my corneas were starting to starve...lack of oxygen and nutrients. The blood vessels were coming from the top, bottom, and the back of the eyeball to my corneas to feed them. And had I not lost the lens, I would have come home from work some night, taken out my lens......and my cornea would have come off, too. Not a pretty thing. No more contacts. Ever. (There's a term for what it was called, but I don't remember.)

I have astigmatism and I'm now wearing no-line bifocals (when I wear them). I only wear my regular glasses to drive (as legally I have to wear them for driving). I wear my sunglasses, however, all the time, especially when I'm out walking. Even in the wintertime. Even on rainy days. I wear my sunglasses more often than my regular glasses. Love my sunglasses. I know they're not in style, but they're the larger frames and I've always loved large frames.

I have had glasses since my twenties. At that time, they were for reading mainly. For probably fifteen or twenty years I have worn them all the time and was restricted to driving with them too on my license. I had cataract surgery in June and July, both eyes. Shortly afterwards I had to have the YAG treatment also as my vision was still not like it should have been. Now I can see good enough to drive without glasses. I went ahead and got myself a pair, of the no line bifocals, with my distance, intermediate and close vision like it should be in case I decided to wear my glasses all the time. But I am currently only using glasses for reading and sometimes the computer. I also have a couple pairs of readers from the dollar store. I keep a pair by the computer and a pair in the window over the kitchen sink so I have them handy for reading recipes. The prescription pair I try to keep in my purse so I will have them shopping.

Looks like I will be back at the eye dr today! The frames they ordered for me to look at are already in.

My last checkup was in February. (We are fortunate to have insurance from my husband's work so it's easy to go regularly.) I have glasses and contacts, but usually wear contacts only when I'm dressing up or if I'm going to be out in a rain storm.

Laser eye surgery gives me the willies so I will never have it. Plus, your eyes need to be stable and mine are still changing all the time so I'm not a good candidate (whew).

I went to the eye doctor a few weeks ago. I've worn glasses since the 2nd grade!  I wore them more than I should have at school and ended up with worse vision than I probably would have otherwise.  I guess I found it a pain to take them on and off.  Now I can't do anything without them.

I wore contacts from my junior year of high school until a few years after college.  I developed an infection in my cornea from over wear of them and it was an awful time.  It took a full month to get my vision back!  In that time they had me seeing a neurologist as well as the eye doctor multiple times a week.  Ever since; contacts just aren't as comfortable.  So I don't get them anymore.  I only miss them when I dress up or get pictures done.  I have some fancy glasses now that are pretty cute!!

I'm thinking I will change eye doctors next year though.  The office I go to now is great if you have problems; but very impersonal with the exams now.  They have the techs do the prescription adjustments and they do it SO fast I wasn't even aware that's what they were doing.  I'd have paid more attention if I knew!  And they shuffle you back and forth at least 3 times.  4 for me because I have a very hard time with the eye pressure test!!

It's been three years since I went, so a visit is really overdue. I've needed corrective lenses since my early teens and have worn contacts since I was 18. I wear soft bifocal lenses which can been left in for two weeks straight, but I take them out every night because I've never figured out how to remove eye make-up without smearing up or ruining the lenses.Half the time I don't wear them on weekends.

I see the retina dr every six months. Had a partially detached retina a few years ago and had surgery for that, so I definitely need to keep up my regular checkups.

Had cataract surgery prior to the retina surgery, and cataract surgery is absolutely nothing. And the results are absolutely amazing.

I have a retina dr appointment this coming Monday.

I've worn glasses since I was 8 or so. Nearsighted + astigmatism. I never go without. But it's been forever since I went to the eye doctor. I don't even remember how long it's been except that "the kitten" chewed the end of the earpiece off my glasses, and she's 3 now :anon:. And the glasses weren't new when she chewed them either. My insurance even covers one visit a year and I still don't go! Crazy me. But my glasses are starting to give me headaches so maybe that will be enough motivation. . .
