It's probably because I am bored to death at work and computer doesn't help.. but I have been feeling like I'm in a brain fog a lot lately. My hearing seems clogged at the same time (clears when I blow my nose)

What do you guys to get out of a brain fog? Coffee? Run around the block?

I make lists of things need to do later today, and start a plan for what to fill my extra time with that will accomplish something. And yes, I always start the day with a cup of coffee & a shortbread cookie or two- it usually clears my morning brain fog rather well! ;)

lol.

My docs upped my meds, which i started today. I'm hoping that will help with my fog.

I also think its the changing of the weather too.

I could use some ideas too! I  feel like I'm running in slow motion on a little hamster wheel!  Being called in different directions at once; it's like a sensory overload!
I haven't finished my morning coffee (which is a big cup).

I feel a little better once I do get things crossed off my to-do list.  Taking a break to read for a few minutes sometimes revives me too.  We may go for a walk later.  Sometimes turning music or a good movie on on in the background help too.

Come on to TCS?

Going for a walk if it's cold and windy works pretty well too - but it's dependent on availability of motivation, appropriate weather and being OK to leave your work if you happen to be there at the time....

Have to confess to spending quite a lot of my life in brain fog recently though, better solutions would be appreciated.

My way to deal with that is mynoise.net

It's a website where you can listen to "white noise" - my favorite is the rain noise and river stream noise. I use it also to block out noise when I am at the library with screaming toddlers and sandwich munching kids.

Sounds to me like you need more sleep!

Or perhaps a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea or another sleep disorder that is causing you to not get enough sleep at night.

So far as your hearing goes, sounds like you have some wax build up in your ears, or some fluid build up behind your ear drum. The fluid behind the ear drum is often caused by allergies.  A non drowsy antihistamine such as Claritin, taken regularly can help with that.  Cleaning ear was should be done by a doctor otherwise you could puncture your ear drum.

I haven't been sleeping well lately and have had a lot on my mind, so I also feel like I've been in a fog. Sometimes a walk helps, or as others mentioned, a cup of coffee.

When I wasn't walking over lunch, I was sleeping. I'd eat my lunch around 11:30 or so, then at noon, I shut and lock my door. grab my blanket, lean back and prop my legs up on my desk and zone out. I have an hour for lunch and I could get a serious nap in during that hour....as long as it stayed relatively quiet in the building. But even 20 or 30 minutes helps when I'm really sleep-deprived. And while I sleep fairly well at night, I am up quite early in the morning, so it seems like I never have enough sleep. I've fallen asleep at my desk more than once (my boss caught me once; he didn't say much as he knows we're having some trouble with one of our geriatric kitties).

Other things that I do.....drink coffee or a high-octane caffeine non-calorie soda.

I've also found in the late afternoon that a large mug filled with ice and water helps to wake me up a bit.

I'll get up from my desk and go for a walk, even if it's just to the restroom to wash my face or go talk to somebody for 5 minutes or so.

I really try not to eat anything because it interferes with my calorie intake too much, but sometimes I'll grab a small bag of pretzels from the snack machine.

One of my co-workers is a real music hound, so sometimes I'll ask him to play something that I can hear....he knows I'm a classic rock fan, so he'll play something I really like. That helps, too. (Although it can be a little embarrassing when your boss walks into your cube and you're jamming to ZZ Top! He just smiled, shook his head, and said, "I don't want to know!"
