So I have bathed her twice with a little bit of dial body wash deluted in water and changed her bedding and put any towels and blankets in trash bags and sealed them. I have wood floors but I have her isolated in the bathroom and blocked the crack under the door so they don't spread. Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the fleas? And how long will it take to get rid of them? Is it too early to use flea medicine?

She's a little young for flea medicines but if you can get Capstar or diatomaceous earth, you can sprinkle it on her food.  Don't use the Dial anymore - it's really too harsh for her.

Get some regular Dawn dishwashing liquid (the blue without anticeptic added) and bath her with that.  It not only washes the fleas off her gently, it will help kill the fleas and well.

Vacuum everywhere, too.  That traps and kills the fleas.

Well Odine, I called the vet and she said that frontline was safe to use so i treated Tinic 3 days ago and then bathed her with the dawn like you suggested and it seems to have worked! I also vacuumed the house and washed my clothes and linens and last night Tinic and I went for a little ride so I could bomb the house. I think I may have stopped the fleas in their tracks! Tinic is still in the bathroom until I take her to the vet on Monday but she seems very happy and healthy and flea free! WOO HOO!!

Yes - Frontline for 6 week old kittens is just fine. Also, Revolution makes a flea/tick/deworming treatment for kittens/puppies under 5 pounds. http://www.vetdepot.com/revolution-for-puppies-and-kittens-under-5-lbs-pink-3-pack.html Just fyi. ;) And, yes, the dawn dishwashing detergent will work to stun the fleas so you can then use the flea comb and dunk them in a bowl of full strength Dawn. They will drown and be stuck in that solution. As a past groomer, we also used a few drops (about 5 to 10) of Anise extract mixed in with any concentrated shampoo diluted to make 16 ounces. Kills fleas!! An old groomer's trick. :)
