I have seven cats at the moment- I keep seeing feral or thrown-away kittens in the woods by my house and once I see them I want to help them. Two of the cats are house cats, adopted as adults, then I have adopted five sick straggly ferals. Four of them are happy healthy house cats now, one of them unfortunately died the day I brought him inside before I could even get him to the vet (at least he died warm and safe and fed, still sad though).
Well yesterday I went outside and the neighbor's dog had something cornered growling at it, and I saw the most pitiful-looking tabby kitten cowering by a tree. I went to it, and it didn't run from me so I picked it up and of course brought it inside. I removed three large ticks and gave her a bath because she was filthy and flea-ridden and her poor little tail was covered in poop, then dried her off fed her and put her on a heating pad to warm up. She seems really sick- goopy green stuff in both her eyes, coughing whenever she eats, incredibly skinny, and her anus is puffy and pokes out and obviously hurts her when she poops. Breaks my heart. Don't worry- she does have an appointment tomorrow at the vet who has helped me with my last four "woods cats" I adopted. I named her Harley Quinn because the last kitten I brought in is Bruce Wayne.
Now I'm rather new to this whole cat thing- I've only owned cats since the summer. I started collecting them and got hooked, haha. What I want to know is what I can do to make this poor sick kitty more comfortable between now and her vet appointment! She eats and drinks, but has a little hack with every bite of food. I figure it's her stuffy nose. She is a tabby, obviously was still nursing because she snuffles around like she's looking for a nipple when she is held, I'm unsure of the age but under 2mo definitely. So cute and clearly in pain. She absolutely will not use the litter box, she just pees and poops wherever she happens to be sitting. All my other kittens used the litter pretty much immediately, not Harley. What can I do to help litter train her? I don't want to pen her up, she mostly sleeps on a heating pad set on low and doesn't do much else. I use soft toilet paper with warm water to clean her eyes whenever they start to look too closed and make sure she gets water. She's super affectionate, unlike the other ferals I've gotten, and lets herself be picked up and will always climb on my keyboard when I'm on the computer.
