After considering all the amazing suggestions made in the Name the Ribbons Contest, I'm happy to announce the new official name for those paws-up and ribbons:

Purraise!

I'd like to thank @Andrya for coming up with this wonderful term! Andrya, as a token of our appreciation, I'd like to gift you a tote bag from the selection in our TCS Store -

Tote Bags : TheCatSite.com Online Store

What's next?

From now on, you can Purraise a post, a review or an image, by clicking the thumbs-up button. The Purraise goes to the content item, but it also gets accumulated on the profile of the member who made that contribution, so you have Purraise points and green ribbons to show for them.

Please be generous and use the Purraise feature often. It's a great way to say "Kudos" for a thought-out post that contributes to the community. It's also a way to help surface the best contest we have.

As a reminder -

When should Rep be given?

Rep should be given for a specific piece of content: a useful post, a great image or a helpful review. Remember: you should be recognizing the contribution, not the contributor.

When should it NOT be given?

Reputation should not be given for matters of personal gain. This includes giving rep to friends for no reason, or for anything that does not benefit the community as a whole.

Why should you give Rep?

Please use the rep system with care, but use if often. It is a very useful tool for us as a community, for two reasons -

1. Encouraging quality content by letting members know their contribution was appreciated.

2. Helping the site admins feature and surface the best content we have.

Reputation Etiquette

- Do not ask for rep, explicitly or otherwise, for a specific contribution or in general.
- Do not hold grudges with rep. Give rep to any contribution that you feels deserves acknowledgement, regardless of your relationship with the contributor.
- Do not give rep to a post of a member just because you like them. The POST itself should be worthy of the rep.

- Never coordinate rep, offer it conditionally or otherwise try to manipulate the system. This will be considered a violation of the site's rules.

I'm glad to see the new feature is getting used too! Purraise the good posts, images and reviews - if you find something to be useful, let that user (and the site admins) know about it by clicking the thumbs-up button!

I thought the comments for Purraise were also private. To my embarrassment and shame, they are not.

I thought we could only see purraise given to us and ones we gave others...I just read purraise given to a member by another member...

Yeah, I noticed that if I go to my profile, there is a section called "puraise" and you can see who gave you praise and any comments that they left.  I also thought it was going to be a private function where only the admins would be able to see who gave puraise.
