I really like the Momentum line of freeze dried animal bits...pretty reasonably priced and cheaper if you order direct from the company:

Favorites are the turkey or duck hearts.

My boy gets his regular prescription TD dry food hand thrown as a treat most days, and his 2 x a day toothpaste coz he likes that too. I try and avoid any junk other than his prescription TD as that's a pretty bad starter and I want to try and keep his gums and teeth as healthy as I can. (For newbies he has a history of mouth problems and has feline herpes so I try and take good care of him).

For extras and variety he gets a couple of Thrive freeze dried fish cubes when he has his daily L Lysine for his herpes to keep that  a bit nicer for him - for some reason he doesn't particularly like the L Lysine depite it tasting of fish.  I'll give him tiny bits of wet food too like a small sardine in spring water, or a small spoonful of Thrive canned chicken (that's about half a can and not too often as it costs a fortune) a couple of days a week if he'll take it but he's not a big fan of wet food. Generally I use the treats to up his protein intake as the TD isn't good.

Loving your spotty cat by the way kittycatlovemew, I used to have a brown spotted tabby and she was a lovely kitty.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
As others have pointed out, the single-ingredient, freeze dried meat treats are the healthiest option for our kitties, and most love them.

I also give them freeze dried chicken and beef liver.

$12 shipping. >.<
Awwww...nuts!  I did NOT see that.  Oh well, I guess that explains the mark up at the pet store!  Still not a bad deal - ounce for ounce, they cost as much as heavily processed, "full 'o weird ingredient" treats even at the high retail price. Considering they are pure, unadulterated protein...I feel they are reasonable.

My 17 year old kitty Sassy passed away last May.  She was diagnosed with diabetes 5 years before that so I quickly had to learn about nutrition and a high protein/low carb diet.    Now I have two new boy kitties- Geordi, a 7 mo old shelter kitty, and Gilley, a 5 mo old short hair exotic.

My vet believes in a mostly meat (wet) diet and a little dry to graze on. I feed them Wellness Core Grain free kitten wet food. It is more expensive than grocery store canned food but my experience has been that they have to eat less of it and they stay full longer. I get their food on chewy.com.  I buy (2) 24-can packs so that I can get the free 2 day shipping for orders of $49 or more.  This way I spend $1.45 a can vs the $1.99 at the pet store and I don't have to by food for quite a while:)   For the dry I give them Royal Canin kitten, which I am going to start getting from chewy.com.  Gilley was on a raw meat diet from blue ridge beef but we have been unable to get it the last 2 months. Friday we take delivery and will transition Gilley back on some.  Hoping to get Geordi to like it too, so we can cut out a little of the dry.  I think he will because the kitties are best buds and Geordi always wants to get involved in whatever "lil brother" is into.
