Does anyone have health insurance for their cats, and if so, what is the monthly cost? What is a good company to use, and do all vets accept insurance? I could have really used this years ago when I was dealing with cats that had chronic skin conditions, asthma, kidney disease, cancer, etc . I currently have a healthy four year old cat and seven month old kitten, but you never know what could happen.

I got health insurance for each of my kittens, and it is fairly inexpensive. About $20 a month or about $158/year, prepaid with the company I chose and a plan with a $200 deductible (per "incident" - i.e. all regarding the same issue) and 90% reimbursement up to $22,000. But this is a kitten price, I didn't quote for an cat.

Here is a site that compares reviews:

The company I chose covered accidents after 24 hours and medical after two weeks. In my case I actually had something come up 4 weeks after I got the insurance! In the end it turned out to be okay after the fright... but they covered it exactly as on the plan. it was very helpful not to have to worry so that I could get the specialist in to do tests.

Y'know, its a gamble either way. The cool thing is that once insured at the kitten rate, the renewal rate remains the same forever (again, with the company I chose).

I guess you want to know, eh? Okay, this is not an endorsement - just an answer to the question: PetPlan USA. I think I chose the gold plan.

I don't think that the cost of a good meal out (or less than a tank of gasoline) is unreasonable for a monthly premium.
