I was just wondering if anyone had any idea about what age you can start bathing kittys? I am taking on a new baby in a few weeks when he is old enougth to leave his mom, but they are all infested with fleas. I will be taking a trip to the vets before hand to try and get some flea spray/drops suitable for younger cats, but i also have, left over from my old kitty, some cat shampoo which is also a flea deterant. Dose anyone know anything about bathing kittens? he will be aprox 7-8 weeks when i get him.

You can bathe a 7-8 week kitten, but I would only use an approved kitten shampoo. Most of the flea shampoos are for kittens 12 weeks and older. The best thing for your kitten would be to bathe him, make sure he's completly dry and then apply some revolution which is made for kittens 6 weeks and older. It will keep the fleas from returning for at least 4 weeks which is what you want.

This is what my vet told me about the kittens that were infested(I couldn't wash the mother when I got her and she was infested hence the kittens got infested) Ok, he told me to wash them in Joy dish liquid ...not the ultra or antibacterial...just the regular joy ...make sure they are kept warm..after that use some adams flea spray...do NOT spray them...spray it into your hand and wipe the kittens down with it...make sure they are dry before putting them back with the mother-now this was for 1 week old kittens and it worked and didnt harm them at all ..yours seems to be older but I still wouldnt spray him down I would wipe it on him. The kittens are 11 weeks old now and I took them to the vet last week for shots ect he suggested the revolution which I got put on them...it protects against worms, fleas, dog ticks, ear mites, heartworms and mange...it was 9 for kittens and 11 for adults...just a thought, hope this helps.
