They just want to be near you. They know you're going to sit there and work on your lap top so they've moved in and left that little person shaped seat space in front of them where they know you will fit.  They will then snuggle in even closer to you; they don't mean to push you off, honestly they don't!

Yeah.....except you should see how fast they move in when I get up and leave a warm spot!  :-)

HA!  Yes, like say when you get up off the computer chair to nip to the bathroom and come back 30 seconds later to find 3 pairs of eyes looking up at you as if to say, "you were all done sitting here right?"

They've got you. You think they're leaving that space for betsy. Oh no, they're expecting betsy to warm that space up so they can sit on it later.

I'm thinking you all might have missed my evil grin?

People are permitted to share a cat's space in order to keep a roof over the cat's head, keep the cat warm, comfortable and well fed, and tend to the cat's every need.  If people do this they will occasionally be shown little hints of bonding and appreciation from the cat/s they care for in order to maintain human motivation. Warming seats for our cat residents is but one small task in these daily duties.
We love it though.  Don't we?

I guess you're right--I should be happy they let me sit on the couch once in awhile at all, right?

My favorite is when my kitten lays down right in the center of my full size bed so that there's nowhere for me at all, even though he doesn't actually take up much space!

Your couch smells like you because you sit there often. And it's soft and warm. Why wouldn't a cat love to lounge there? :)

Mad Libs? One could replace the word cat-cat's-cat/s with any noun that applies, or one that fits in better
