Many vets will use medications off label, especially when treating a large number of cats. One Extra large dog revolution vial will treat 8 cats that are 5 to 15 lbs. This ONLY applies to Revolution. Many products approved for dogs are NOT safe and can kill your cat.
Here is a chart on Revolution dosing

Revolution is easy to divide up. A 5-15lb cat only needs 0.38 ml of Revolution. In the dog revolution, it uses the same concentration, but just adds more liquid to increase the dose. In other words, if you measure the dog revolution for cats, each cat would only need 0.38 ML regardless of which size doggy package you get.
To prove this point:
If I get the X large doggy size package, it contains 3.0 mL, divided by 8 cat doses = 0.375 ML per dose ( but rounded up to 0.38 for easy measuring).
If I get the Large dog size package, it contains 2.0 ML per vial, divided by 5.3333 cat doses = 0.375 ML per dose
(Where did the 5.33333 come from? 240 mg per doggy dose/45 mg dose per cat =5.33333)
The same with the other doggy packages. The dose for a cat is ALWAYS 0.38 ML for a 5-15lb cat.
But how do you measure 0.38ML? You either need to buy a 1CC (aka 1 ML) syringe and estimate 0.38ML, or you can buy a 0.5 CC insulin syringe. Insulin syringes have a needle attached, so after measuring the amount of Revolution you need, the needle will need to be CUT OFF before applying it to the cat.
If you have any questions about using Doggy Revolution on cats always ask your vet. Reading syringes correctly can be tricky for some people. If in doubt- ASK THE VET.
You need a script from a vet anyway! So before you do this with your cat colony, talk to your vet first! You can also divide up the dosage depending on your exact cat's weight ( for exactly a 10lb cat), but that makes it a lot more complicated.
Definitely get your vets advice if you are dosing kittens.
