She is pretty small, so I'm sure that makes it seem bigger. I would guess 4 but I'm really not feeling much movement, unless if some just didn't make it. I can lay my hand on her belly but I have no idea how to tell or feel for babies besides the obvious kicks! It was the vet who guessed 2 kittens. But that was a month ago right after I got her and she also guessed she was 3-4 weeks along then.
Lol at the fury Easter rags! To be fair she does look bigger in this pic then some others.
I'm just wondering when she will stop growing! Can she get any bigger?! I hope not!!
Here is a more accurate picture, not sure if she still looks that big or not. I mean of course she looks pregnant I only had her for a week before she really started to pop, she was thin (with a slight potbelly either from worms or pregnancy) but I almost forget now what is normal!
Still say 5 or 6 kittens?
Some small cats can look as big ad yours. Mine is still tinier than yous. Mine had a belly and two lumps. Also, cats start to show at 5 weeks. I do not think my pictures would really help. She looks normal size. I hope all goes well
I just realized it's been exactly 2 weeks since I felt the kittens move in her. Everywhere I looked said when you feel them move, it's typically about 2 more weeks.
hi,this is my 1st post.my little Mollie gave birth to 6 kittens between midnight and 2am today, they are adorable. She was huge-from the back she looked exactly like a large ripe pear, ready to drop.
She was a bit bigger than in your pic. The vet last week guessed at least 3, and within a week which was correct. I only felt the kittens 2 or 3 days ago for the 1st time .no real signs of labour either-in and out of her box, looking quite happy. first sign of something happening was a loud screech, and kitten followed in a minute or 2. she's just been out of the box for the 1st time to go to toilet and have a wander round and she is now concave at the sides! I'll need to feed her up! good luck with your girl.
Hi.My girl had her 6 kittens about 20 hours ago, so I know exactly how you feel ! I had no idea how pregnant she was because she'd had absolutely no signs of being in heat. We went to the vet last Thursday and he said at least 3 kittens, and within a week - it was 5 days! I only started to feel the kittens moving 2 or 3 days ago, even though she was huge. She was nesting for a couple of weeks, so we put her box in the corner she had chosen, and she went in and out of it as she wanted. The only sign I had was that she stayed in the box for longer than 5 minutes. I heard a loud screech and kitten arrived 2 minutes later. She was purring really loudly the whole time and I stroked her through the whole thing which she seemed to like. She seemed a bit scared with the first, but was then ok for 2, 3, and 4. She then fell asleep for 2 hours and completely ignored 5 and 6! I had to break the sac with a finger, and then wipe them off with kitchen towel and move them to mummy. When she woke up, she ate the last 2 placentas, and then cleaned up the kittens. I was glad I was there otherwise I don't think 5 and 6 would have survived. On the other hand she may have felt safe enough to sleep because she knew I was there. I also needed to extricate the kittens from underneath her when she lay on them, but newborn kittens can squeak very loudly!
Now they have arrived I'm relieved, but I've got a whole new set of worries now! How do I know if they're all feeding well because they all look so similar - 3 black and 3 black and tabby. Is mummy licking their bottom to make them pee and poo, or should I do it anyway? I phoned the vet with a couple of questions today, and they said to call anytime, so I know I have help if I need it. I put food and drink in the box with her so she didn't have to leave the kittens.
Mollie has always been a nervy cat, and not hugely affectionate, so I felt really lucky that she really seemed to want me with her all the time, and trusts me with her babies. she left her nest not long ago to use her litter box so I used the opportunity to change the soiled blankets and put kittens back in. I was a bit worried she wouldn't go back in the nest if it didn't smell right, but she was fine. she came looking for cuddles and kisses from me.it was a lovely experience, and I'm really glad she wanted me with her.I hope it all goes well for you and your girl. GOOD LUCK.
Her behavior for sure will change she will be over protective of herself and her kits once she has them.the number of kits depends on the size of her tummy.post a pic of her and I can tell you how many.my cat is like a queen cat she has kittens 2 or 1 time for 3 years and I will sell them or give them away.the last letter were only two, they are only 4 weeks old though, her tummy was very small for a pregnant cat.people may say you must treat the kits once they are seconds old, which is good, but some times it can bother the mother.and the cat will know what to do with HER kits.so usually it's good to let her do her thing
Now her kits wil not all ways move she will probley have another 2-4 weeks of being pregnant
My Phantom is also very young, Vet must have got her age wrong because she was booked into be spayed last week, oops! Phantom is due any day now she is about 65 days along and the suspense is killing. She is but has always been a very affectionate cat. I cant wait:-)
Oh thanks everyone for replying to this! I never got any notifications I didn't think anyone replied! This has been so helpful!
As of now my kitty penelope is much bigger. I have felt the kitten move for 2 weeks, 1 day, the night after posting the original post! She has been meowing more, especially at night . And she is trying to run away! She jumped out of a window(about 4 ft drop) when I opened the screen for just 2 seconds to clean something the other day! I was able to get her but then again yesterday I opened the door to let my dog out. And she came running out of nowhere and escaped! It was midnight and stormy and windy. She was so spooked and kept running away from me. Of course I was a crying mess, so no wonder she won't come to me. My husband, the non cat person walked right up to her and was able pick her up and bring her in! She keeps trying to run away again so I put her in out basement(it's kind of unfinished and isn't the nicest place but she always wants to go down there) and I set her up with a birthing box, litter pan and food. She has a set up in my bedroom for nighttime. But I think I'll just keep we in the basement until she has those babies since she must feel safer down there since she always wants down there. I was so scared last night, afraid she'll never come back! We live right up in the mountains, who knows what could have gotten her! And her babies!
I know it has got to be close, I think within a week from now. Hopefully sooner, I just want to get this all over with. I can't wait to just spay her and hopefully have her calm down and not try to run away so much, I can't handle this!!
I'm really starting to think she has more then 2 kittens in there. In fact last night I think I felt kicks at 3 separate places in her belly.
Kittycatlovemew I am no expert but I do think that is ok that her belly is small. You seem sure she is pregnant and you feel movement so it think that is enough to assume she is ok. Maybe just one or two kittens. Also, is there any possibility that she isn't as far along as you may think? Either way, I do believe that is nothing to really worry about.
Kittens now? Yay for phantom! Maybe this is the week . My kitty is maybe 65 days, but her nipples have been big and pink for so long! My friend had a pregnet cat the size of mine, and had 5 kittens!
