No good deed goes unpunished. I went to a friend's house yesterday afternoon to trim the hind feet claws on 2 cats. Should have remembered that front declawed cats bite. Did one foot on one cat who then growled and bit my left forearm really hard.

Somewhat swollen and painful 5 hours later. Visited the doctor this morning and now - since I cannot tolerate amoxycillin - am on metronidazole 3x / day and doxycycline 2X / day for the next 10 days. Plus a tetnus shot since my last vaccine was more than 5 years ago.

The pharmacist said to call the doctor if no improvement in 24 hours . Regardless, I have an appointment for Monday morning but could come in on Sunday if I need to do so.

All because I was trying to spare the cats a trip to the V-E-T.

So I'd appreciate it if you have any sympathetic, healing thoughts to send my way. TIA

You most definitely have my sympathy.  My Lucy bit me on the thumb when I was trying to pill her.  Within an hour, it looked like a big grape tomato.  I ended up having IV antibiotics and that thumb hurt for the next week.

You've definitely got my sympathy. I've been bitten, and it was so painful! :vibes::vibes::vibes: that the meds prevent infection and it heals cleanly.

It is good that you got treatment quickly. I hope it heals cleanly. I was bitten on the head by a feral cat who jumped on me ( I was foolishly trying to stop a fight) and ended up having 12 stitches and abscesses that took 6 weeks to heal. But an arm wound should be easier to keep sterile.

Here's a morning update. My forearm was noticeably more swollen and red by the time I went to bed last night. It is much better this morning. Of course I'm taking one antibiotic twice a day and a different antibiotic three times  day. I also got a probiotic to add to the mix since all the antibiotics are bound to upset my gut.

Still somewhat sore and tender but clearly things are improving. TheCatSite good wishes are working their healing vibes - thank you!
