I'm going to ask that this thread be moved over into Kitten Care, where it's more apt to be seen by the kitten experts.

So I am not 100% sure about this, but my understanding is that a fever coat occurs when the Queen has a high fever/other illness while the kitten is in utero.  It is also my understanding that it is rarely a sign of current illness in the kitten, and that the coat will shed out and go to its normal color within a few weeks to a few months.

Is the kitten currently presenting signs of an illness? If so, you want to get him/her and the rest of the litter to the vet ASAP so that they can get started on the right course of treatment. But, if the kitten is otherwise healthy and growing normally there is nothing to do but wait for them to shed the coat.

This is actually an issue more commonly addressed by breeders, so I will put the word out and see if anyone else knows anything on the subject.

Best of luck and welcome to TCS!
