I had been watching Bruce Wayne for a while, since his first day at the shelter...
His Facebook page was shared with me via a rescue, and his chances were grim. Bruce was immediately put on death row due to "being aggressive to little children" as per his "family" who abandoned him to die after being with him since he was 8weeks old.
The paperwork says he never bit, there was only growling and that might be due to fear.
He was in a high-kill shelter and had very little time to be pulled. Because of his "aggressive" tag, he wasn't being shown at the shelter; his only chance was Facebook.
Thank goodness the volunteers saw there wasn't a bad/aggressive bone in him, and decided to fight for him :heart3: His fb page was shared 850+ times, but no one came through...... Then there was the frantic phone call:
Carolina, is there anything, anything at all you can do? He is perfect, and he dies in one hour! :bawling:
I was in Austin visiting accounts, so I called Minka /Rebecca to go pull him an bring him home. She got there 20 minutes late, but I had contacted the shelter, the director, everyone begging to keep him alive for me, and alive he was!
Bruce is amazing! He is sooooo gentle with the cats, completely house-broken, as sweet as he can be, very obedient, just the most perfect dog one can ever ask for :heart3:
I am so so glad he has joined the family - I am in love with the little man, and he has fit our home perfectly!
Without further ado, meet Bruce Wayne!

Get me outta here!

Meeting momma for the first time:

Cute!

carolina carolina Congratulations on the new family member!

His snaggletooth is adorable. The kitties seem pretty relaxed around him in those shots. Have they had any other exposure to dogs?

Tricia, his sweet, laid back temperament helps a lot!
The cats freaked out for a few days, but I have to say, less than when I brought new cats home :dk:
Mac, who I thought would react the worst, could care less. He was comfortable from the get go.
Bugsy hissed at him for a couple of days and slapped him across the face once, but now he is fine.
Lucky was a bit scared, but she tests him all the time by walking right in front of his nose, back and forth, back and forth to see how he reacts. She used to run away but now she sees he is not a threat and is fine.
He is really so gentle with them. Sure he wants to play... But mostly he approaches them slowly, sniffs them and backs off. He respects the kitties 100%
i do have safe place for the kitties: as much as I would love to have Bruce in the room with me at night, for now he is not allowed in my bedroom or in the office - I have baby gates up. I think the kitties deserve a safe haven and the same "me time" they had before he came along.
I don't think they had contact with dogs before, I just think he is a great, gentle and sweet dog... It helps!

Im glad the introduction went smoothly with the cats! That's a scary thing about shelter dogs, you never know if they're cat friendly or not

I love that little underbite! Too cute!

oh, about that: Bruce had been with only one family, and had been raised with cats. I had been given that information before making that decision ;)

OH CAROLINA!!!!!!!!!! Please excuse the following...... :flail: .............. but those above pictures had me belly laughing. LOOK how good he is being, just so thankful to have a home and a new family. He is darling and that snaggle tooth........ NO KIDDING - Bruce IS a SAINT of a dog. AND, it just warms my heart :heart3: :heart3: to no end that you stepped up to save his life. BLESS you, my dear. Look how wonderfully he has fit into your happy cat family. Now a happy dog/cat family. It is really fun to see how the dogs relate to their cat siblings. Herbert loves to play with Perkins and they are best buddies.

I am very, very happy for you and am thankful that you bought that house when you did! :lol3: So, you can rescue these babies on the brink. CONGRATULATIONS to BRUCE whom hit the jackpot having you as his momma. :hugs: :hugs: :heart3: Carolina, you are a wonderful lady and I am glad that Bruce has come into your life and somehow I think you may have needed him just as he needed you :touch:. There is nothing like a dog to add extra love into your heart and home. PLUS - all of the walks you will take with your new found companion. A nice big yard to patrol as well and keep away all of the intruders. :lol3: ENJOY and keep the updates coming. :D :wavey: :clap::clap:
