I have six cats, one of whom is eleven years old. He is also my most recently adopted. He came from people who had adopted him from a shelter. He's missing half of his teeth, and is also extremely overweight. I don't know much about his history, because they'd lost any adoption paperwork.

I have been feeding all of my cats a raw diet for less than a month. All seem to be doing well. But Henry's poops are just... way smellier than the rest. I know cat poop is no picnic, but the difference is enough that I'm wondering if it means anything? Also, oddly enough, he always manages to get litter on his face when he uses the box. It's like he's putting his face in the box or something, not really sure what's going on there.

Any thoughts, or am I jus worrying over nothing?

Even though he is an older cat, since you recently got him and aren't sure about his background, I would get him checked for parasites.  I know it's something we usually think about with kittens but any cat can get them and if he spent time outside he could well have them.

I don't have any idea about the litter on his face.  I was thinking it had something with how he uses the box because of being really overweight but I can't really figure out how that would happen.

We have had several cats that stick their face/nose down in the litter when digging. Don't know why they do this, but, they do. Always come out with leftover litter on their nose. =\

I'll definitely get him checked, yeah. He was scheduled, but I had an unexpected expense of over $700, eugh. I should be able to get him in pretty soon, though.

Just a quick glance at the poop, and it looks like normal cat poop, if not a bit oily, perhaps. The weird thing is that cats who eat a raw diet tend to have the small, really dry poops, and his aren't like that. Apart from not looking like a "raw poop", it looks alright. But again, that's just a glance. I know he needs to be tested.

I sincerely doubt he's been outside at any point. He's front-declawed, and even that aside, he doesn't strike me as a cat that could hold his own outdoors. What I was told was that he was adopted from an area shelter in September of 2012, but the lady who adopted him was allergic, so she gave him to her friend to find him a home, and that friend was in the process of moving as I was adopting him. They said he had all of his important tests and shots and what not, but I plan on updating everything anyway, because that's just their word and all.

Get a sample of their poop and have the vet send it away. Our two kittens had very stinky poop but also it was loose. It was sent away and came back that they had a single cell ornganizm which with medication cleared it up and only a slight odor now apon first pooping and no more loose stool! Good luck!
